Neighbor-Distinguishing k-tuple Edge-Colorings of Graphs

AbstractThis paper studies proper k-tuple edge-colorings of graphs that distinguish neighboring vertices by their sets of colors. Minimum numbers of colors for such colorings are determined for cycles, complete graphs and complete bipartite graphs. A variation in which the color sets assigned to edges have to form cyclic intervals is also studied and similar results are given.

Amyloid formation is associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease (PD). Significant α-synuclein (αSN) deposition in lipid-rich Lewy bodies is a hallmark of PD. Nonetheless, an unraveling of the connection between neurodegeneration and amyloid fibrils, including the molecular mechanisms behind potential amyloid-mediated toxic effects, is still missing. Interaction between amyloid aggregates and the lipid cell membrane is expected to play a key role in the disease progress. Eiropas Komisija nāca klajā ar priekšlikumu Eiropas Parlamenta un Padomes Regulai par aizsardzības pasākumu civiltiesīb ās savstarpēju atzīšanu. Regula neuzlika par pienākumu Latvijai ieviest šādā veida institūtu, tomēr Latvijai būtu jāīsteno citu Eiropas Savienības valstu pieľemtie aizsardzības pasākumi pret vardarbību. Darbā izpētīts, ko nozīmē pagaidu aizsardzība pret vardarbību, ko tā sevī ietver, kā arī izvērtēti izdarītie grozījumi Civilprocesa likumā, izpētīta pagaidu aizsardzības pret vardarbību piemērošana un īstenošana praksē Apskatīti problēmjautājumi saistībā aktuālo tiesu praksi. Noskaidrojot, kādi likuma uzlabojumi nepieciešami un kā jaunās normas izprot Latvijas tiesas.
On the chromatic number of disk graphs

Colorings of disk graphs arise in the study of the frequency-assignment problem in broadcast networks. Motivated by the observations that the chromatic number of graphs modeling real networks hardly exceeds their clique number, we examine the related properties of the unit disk (UD) graphs and their different generalizations. For all these graphs including the most general class of the double disk (DD) graphs, it is shown that X(G) ≤ c.ω(G) for a constant c. Several coloring algorithms are analyzed for disk graphs, aiming to improve the bounds on X(G). We find that their worst-case performance expressed in the number of used colors is indeed reached in some instances.
