NoC based virtualized accelerators as cloud services
2016
National audience; Hardware accelerators(HwAcc) provide good performance in computation intensive applications. Integrating hardware accelerators in a cloud environment is the optimal way to improve the quality of service. However, mapping all possible application statically into the reconfigurable fabric of the FPGA is rather impractical and prohibitively expensive in terms of resource and power consumption. This problem can be alleviated via time multiplexing the access to the underlying hardware resources, FPGA, by designing dynamically reconfigurable accelerators in the cloud. Similarly, the connection and communication between the accelerators and the reconfigurable control will not be…
Sharing spatial data with a 3D component as a collaborative and dissemination tool for archaeology: conceptual challenges and technical issues
2018
International audience; Due to INSPIRE directive, various spatial data infrastructure (SDI) were developed to support research activities. In practice, these toolsremain underexploited by researcher for many reasons. First, their use is time-consuming and researchers usually consider that they provide noimmediate benefits. Second, their use is often complex and needs a substantial investment for researchers who have a limited expertise in spatial data. Finally, often based on 2D GIS environment, they do not provide an adequate tool for collaborative research in archaeology. From this experience, an interdisciplinary team designed and developed an SDI based on GeOrchestra, synchronized with …
Scheduling independent stochastic tasks under deadline and budget constraints
2018
This article discusses scheduling strategies for the problem of maximizing the expected number of tasks that can be executed on a cloud platform within a given budget and under a deadline constraint. The execution times of tasks follow independent and identically distributed probability laws. The main questions are how many processors to enroll and whether and when to interrupt tasks that have been executing for some time. We provide complexity results and an asymptotically optimal strategy for the problem instance with discrete probability distributions and without deadline. We extend the latter strategy for the general case with continuous distributions and a deadline and we design an ef…
Evolutionary-based 3D reconstruction using an uncalibrated stereovision system: application of building a panoramic object view
2010
In this paper, we propose an original evolutionary-based method for 3D panoramic reconstruction from an uncalibrated stereovision system (USS). The USS is composed of five cameras located on an arc of a circle around the object to be analyzed. The main originality of this work concerns the process of the calculation of the 3D information. Actually, with our method, 3D coordinates are directly obtained without any prior estimation of the fundamental matrix. The method operates in two steps. Firstly, points of interest are detected in pairs of images acquired by two consecutive cameras of the USS are matched. And secondly, using evolutionary algorithms, we jointly compute the transformed matr…
