WCxf: An exchange format for Wilson coefficients beyond the Standard Model
2018
We define a data exchange format for numerical values of Wilson coefficients of local operators parameterising low-energy effects of physics beyond the Standard Model. The format facilitates interfacing model-specific Wilson coefficient calculators, renormalisation group (RG) runners, and observable calculators. It is designed to be unambiguous (defining a non-redundant set of operators with fixed normalisation in each basis), extensible (allowing the addition of new EFTs or bases by the user), and robust (being based on industry standard file formats with parsers implemented in many programming languages). We have implemented the format for the Standard Model EFT (SMEFT) and for the weak e…
Optimization of Charging Stations on a Route with Electric Buses
2019
Master's thesis Renewable Energy ENE500 - University of Agder 2019 This studyconsiders placement of electric charging stations for a public electric bus system with the intention of minimizing the charging power. This is an optimization problem where fully electric buses with opportunity charging strategy are considered. The developed strategies are proposed for an existing bus route in Oslo city, Norway. Batteryand chargingspecifications were determinedbased on a literature review. Measurements regarding velocity of the bus and altitude of the route were performed. This data where further used to determine the energy needsfor an electric bus. Four cases were formedregarding different batter…
Dynamic scheduling of periodic skippable tasks in an overloaded real-time system
2008
International audience; The need for supporting dynamic real-time environments where changes in workloads may occur requires a scheduling framework that explicitly addresses overload conditions, allows the system to achieve graceful degradation and supports a mechanism capable of determining the load to be shed from the system to handle the overload. In applications ranging from video reception to air-craft control, tasks enter periodically and have response time constraints, but missing a deadline is acceptable, provided most deadlines are met. Such tasks are said to be occasionally skippable and have an assigned skip parameter. We look at the problem of uniprocessor scheduling of skippabl…
Design and Implementation of Deep Learning Based Contactless Authentication System Using Hand Gestures
2021
Hand gestures based sign language digits have several contactless applications. Applications include communication for impaired people, such as elderly and disabled people, health-care applications, automotive user interfaces, and security and surveillance. This work presents the design and implementation of a complete end-to-end deep learning based edge computing system that can verify a user contactlessly using &lsquo
A device for spike train sampling with built-in memory.
1987
Abstract The described interface to a digital computer measures interspike interval durations with a resolution of 10 μs. A built-in first-in first-out (FIFO) memory relieves the host computer from frequent I/O intensive tasks. The internal FIFO buffer can store up to 512 data words (wordlength is 16 bit) and works on the dual-port principle. This way the acquisition of a neuronal spike train is completely independent of the computer's simultaneously ongoing data access. A simple handshake protocol between the interface and the computer prevents any overhead communication. The buffer architecture of the instrument releases the host computer from high speed I/O handling schemes like real-tim…
New approach to characterisation of electric alloys under rotating magnetic flux density
1996
The computation of electrical machines using the characterisation of electric alloys proposed by several authors gives performances not verified by experiments on actual machines. By means of finite-element-method software, the authors show that the electromagnetic context where electrical alloys are built into rotating electrical machines is completely different from the actual characterisation system. A new testing device is proposed to take into account the phenomena highlighted.
Enhanced flexible algorithm for the optimization of slot filling factors in electrical machines †
2020
The continuous development in the field of industrial automation and electric mobility has led to the need for more efficient electrical machines with a high power density. The improvement of electrical machines’ slot filling factors is one of the measures to satisfy these requirements. In recent years, this topic has aroused greater interest in the industrial sector, since the evolution of the winding technological manufacturing processes allows an economically sustainable realization of ordered winding arrangements, rather than random ones. Moreover, the manufacture of electrical machines’ windings must be preceded by an accurate design phase in which it is possible to evaluate the maximu…
CNN based Gearbox Fault Diagnosis and Interpretation of Learning Features
2021
Machine learning based fault diagnosis schemes have been intensively proposed to deal with faults diagnosis of rotating machineries such as gearboxes, bearings, and electric motors. However, most of the machine learning algorithms used in fault diagnosis are pattern recognition tools, which can classify given data into two or more classes. The underlined physical phenomena in fault diagnosis are not directly interpretable in machine learning schemes, thus it is usually called black/gray box models. In this study, convolutional neural networks (CNN) machine learning algorithm is proposed to classify gearbox faults, and the learning features of the CNN filters are visualized to understand the…
