Motion of an electric charge in a terrestrial laboratory.
1995
The equation of motion for a charge in an electromagnetic field is written in the Fermi coordinates of an observer moving with a constant acceleration g=9.8 m/${\mathrm{s}}^{2}$ (${10}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}18}$ ${\mathrm{cm}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}1}$ in units such that c=1). This is involved in the equation of motion not only as a Newtonian term g\ensuremath{\rightarrow}, but also as a relativistic correction of the form ``-2(g\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\cdot}v\ensuremath{\rightarrow})v\ensuremath{\rightarrow}.'' We have studied the effect of this term under the conditions of an accelerator of particles. To this end, we have considered a constant and uniform magnetic field, a…

Clinical evaluation of the Er:YAG laser in combination with an enamel matrix protein derivative for the treatment of intrabony periodontal defects: a…
2003
OBJECTIVES The aim of the present study was to compare the combination therapy of deep intrabony periodontal defects using an Er:YAG laser (ERL) and enamel matrix protein derivative (EMD) to scaling and root planing+ ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA)+EMD. MATERIAL AND METHODS Twenty-two patients with chronic periodontitis, each of whom displayed 1 intrabony defect, were randomly treated with access flap surgery and defect debridement with an Er:YAG (160 mJ/pulse, 10 Hz) plus EMD (test) or with access flap surgery followed by scaling and root planing (SRP) with hand instruments plus EDTA and EMD (control). The following clinical parameters were recorded at baseline and at 6 months: plaq…
Alternative Income Sources – Entrepreneurship Development or Households’ Economic Needs after the COVID-19 Crisis?
2021
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to identify and analyze the COVID-19 pandemic implications for alternative income sources in transition economy with the dispute based on literature and research. Design/Methodology/Approach: The following research methods were used. Desk extensive research and analysis of raw data collected for the study. An original in-depth interview form was developed, and scientific dispute based on subject literature was conducted. A research hypothesis, aimed at verifying the research problem, were formulated. Findings: The study highlights that, aside from passion, the main reason for undertaking additional economic activity is to obtain additional income. Pract…
Entrepreneurship and Resilience in Spanish Sports Clubs: A Cluster Analysis.
2021
Entrepreneurial orientation can be an effective response by sports clubs to manage a recession, such as the COVID-19 crisis. Therefore, its study can be fundamental to understand different ways of managing a recession. This study analyzes the entrepreneurial orientation of Spanish non-profit sports clubs to identify different groups and their profiles. The sample is composed of 145 Spanish non-profit sports clubs. Different validated scales have been used to analyze entrepreneurial orientation, business model adaptation, service quality, and economic and social performance (performance in social impact and performance in social causes). Entrepreneurial orientation is the variable used to di…
Franchise fairs: A relevant signal in franchise choice in social activity
2016
Potential franchisees encounter difficulties in gaining knowledge about a franchise before embarking on their first start-up venture. For this reason, it is necessary to research which information signals help potential franchisees choose the franchise chains with which they wish to enter into business. Working within the framework of signaling theory, this study's aim is to analyze the relationship between franchise choice and brand, price and participation in franchise fairs. The dynamic signaling model deployed to achieve the study's aim draws on panel data methodology. This methodology allows us to analyze franchise chains over the period in which their parent franchises were using sign…
Behavioural responses of breeding arctic sandpipers to ground-surface temperature and primary productivity
2021
Most birds incubate their eggs, which requires time and energy at the expense of other activities. Birds generally have two incubation strategies: biparental where both mates cooperate in incubating eggs, and uniparental where a single parent incubates. In harsh and unpredictable environments, incubation is challenging due to high energetic demands and variable resource availability. We studied the relationships between the incubation behaviour of sandpipers (genus Calidris) and two environmental variables: temperature and a proxy of primary productivity (i.e. NDVI). We investigated how these relationships vary between incubation strategies and across species among strategies. We also stud…
Differential Effect on the Determinants of the Late Payments According to the Economic Cycle
2018
From 2004 to 2007, the Spanish financial system grew at a very rapid rate. However, from 2008 to 2012 impairment losses amounted equivalent to 25% of Spanish GDP.The objective of this paper is investigate how have affected the main problems that have suffered the Spanish economy on the late payments on Spanish credit institutions. And to check whether the effect of these problems is different on stages of growth with respect to the stages of crisis. The main results, according the test Chow, confirmed that there is a structural break in the model in 2007. Also the increase in unemployment increases the late payments and this increase is greater in the stages of growth compared to the stage…
The Competiveness of the Spanish Regions
2009
Competitiveness is a widely popular concept, which has saved in practise, to denote efficient economic behaviour. The wide dissemination of the competitiveness ranking of countries published annually by the World Economic Forum of Davos (Switzerland), or the fact that the European Union defines some of the global problems, which affect the countries of the EU in terms of the competitiveness gap, have footered the use of this expression in the media. The use of the term to denominate some of the objectives of the European Regional policy has also contributed to extending the use of the expression, as well as the work of prestigious consultants, such as Michael Porter, in influential works, s…
Osmium and lithium isotope evidence for weathering feedbacks linked to orbitally paced organic carbon burial and Silurian glaciations
2022
Abstract The Ordovician (∼487 to 443 Ma) ended with the formation of extensive Southern Hemisphere ice sheets, known as the Hirnantian glaciation, and the second largest mass extinction in Earth History. It was followed by the Silurian (∼443 to 419 Ma), one of the most climatically unstable periods of the Phanerozoic as evidenced by several large scale ( > 5 ‰ ) carbon isotope (δ13C) perturbations associated with further extinction events. Despite several decades of research, the cause of these environmental instabilities remains enigmatic. Here, we provide osmium (187Os/188Os) and lithium (δ7Li) isotope measurements of marine sedimentary rocks that cover four Silurian δ13C excursions. Osmi…
