Cross-Domain Recommendations with Overlapping Items
2016
In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in cross-domain recommender systems. However, most existing works focus on the situation when only users or users and items overlap in different domains. In this paper, we investigate whether the source domain can boost the recommendation performance in the target domain when only items overlap. Due to the lack of publicly available datasets, we collect a dataset from two domains related to music, involving both the users’ rating scores and the description of the items. We then conduct experiments using collaborative filtering and content-based filtering approaches for validation purpose. According to our experimental results, the sourc…
Analyse du caractère dynamique des recommandations dans l'industrie cinématographique : le cas des franchises de films
2016
The release of motion picture sequels by studios led to the emergence of interaction effects between sequels over the time and in consequence altering models predicting the box office. If some scholars have examined these interaction effects, they were limited to the box office revenues. The paper proposes an extension of the interaction effects to third-party recommendations. The results – covering 123 sequels – demonstrate the dynamic and persistent nature of the recommendations.
On research work in information systems: Guidelines, recommendations and examples
2021
The most positive aspect of science is that the participants (researchers, reviewers and editors) control and evaluate their work themselves. Therefore they must be supported in one way or another. Fortunately, guidelines have been developed for different methodologies. However, today the guidelines are not very applicable. The first two sets of guidelines published (both positivist studies) had unusual problems. In this work, we analyze and improve the guidelines generally. Previously, selecting a methodology was the task of every researcher. It now seems that every researcher must also conduct a literature review and write a report. We consider methodology, literature review and writing "…
Sex differences in food choices, adherence to dietary recommendations and plasma lipid profile in type 2 diabetes
2016
Background and aims Diabetic women have a more adverse plasma lipid profile than men. Sex differences in dietary habits may play a role, but are little investigated. The study evaluates the quality of diet, adherence to the nutritional recommendations of the Diabetes and Nutrition Study Group and their relation with plasma lipid in men and women with diabetes. Methods and results We studied 2573 people, aged 50–75, enrolled in the TOSCA.IT study (clinicaltrials.gov; NCT00700856). Plasma lipids were measured centrally. Diet was assessed with a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. Women had a more adverse plasma lipid profile than men. Women consumed significantly more legumes, veg…
Mitä tänään blogattaisiin? : hyvinvointiblogien sisällöt ja niiden luotettavuus tietolähteenä
2017
Tutkimuksen aineisto koostui kolmen suositun bloggaajan kirjoittamista blogiteksteistä kuukauden ajalta (syyskuu 2015). Tutkimus on laadullinen tutkimus, jossa aineisto käsiteltiin sisällönanalyysillä. Analyysin tuloksia suhteutettiin annettuihin terveyssuosituksiin ja kirjallisuuteen tutkijan vertailun avulla. Tutkimuksen aineistosta löydettiin kolme pääluokkaa: asiantuntijuuspuhe, k…

Physical activity recommendations for early childhood : an international analysis of then different countries current national policies and practices…
2019
During the last two decades there have been growing interests on recommendations for children’s physical activity. The World Health Organization (WHO) launched the first global international recommendations for children in 2010, focusing on children and youth aged 5-17-year olds. The recommendations were based on the dose-response relationship between the frequency, duration, intensity, type and amount of physical activity needed for prevention of non-communicable diseases. Until 2019, there was a gap in the recommendations, as the WHO did not offer global recommendations for those children under the age of 5 (early years). The new recent guidelines (WHO, 2019) now offer a focused recommend…
