Integral-geometrical consideration of density matrices
1995
The ensemble N-representability problem for the k-th order reduced density matrix (k-RDM) as well as the problem of reconstruction of the N-particle system density matrices (N-DM) from a given k-RDM are studied. The spatial parts of the k-RDM expansion in terms of spin tensorial operators {Theta}{sub {lambda}} are represented using particular values (at specially chosen {Xi} = {Xi}{sub o}) of the Radon transform D{sub N{lambda}} D{sub N{lambda}}({Xi}) of the N-DM spatial parts (or their sums) D{sub N{lambda}}({chi}{prime}{vert_bar}{chi}{double_prime}) (here, {Xi} is a d-plane in the n-space {Re}{double_prime} of {chi} = ({chi}{prime}, {chi}{double_prime}), with n = 6N, d = 3(N - k), {chi}{p…
FLEXIBLE ELECTRODE BASED ON GOLD NANOPARTICLES AND REDUCED GRAPHENE OXIDE FOR URIC ACID DETECTION USING LINEAR SWEEP VOLTAMMETRY
2021
In this work, an electrochemical sensor for uric acid determination is shown with a preliminary study for its validation in real samples (milk and urine). Uric acid can be electrochemically oxidized in aqueous solutions and thus it is possible to obtain electrochemical sensors for this chemical by means of this electrooxidation reaction. Indium tin oxide coated on flexible polyethylene terephthalate substrate, modified with reduced graphene oxide and gold nanoparticles by co-electrodeposition, was used. Electrodeposition was performed at -0.8V vs SCE for 200 s. All samples were characterized by electron scan microscopy and electron diffraction spectroscopy. A careful investigation on the ef…
Exploring the conceptual framework and measurement model of intrinsic capacity defined by the World Health Organization: A scoping review
2022
WHO has defined intrinsic capacity (IC) as the composite of all physical and mental capacities of an individual covering five subdomains: cognition, locomotion, sensory, vitality, and psychological. Despite this well accepted definition, the conceptual and measurement model of IC remains unclear, which hampers a standardized operationalization of the construct. We performed a scoping review to give a comprehensive overview of the extent to which the current literature of IC addresses and assumes the conceptual framework and measurement model of IC as reflective or formative. For inclusion, we considered all types of articles that were published in peer-reviewed journals except for protocol …
Seed- and wall-induced heterogeneous nucleation in charged colloidal model systems under microgravity
2011
Understanding the process that drives an undercooled fluid to the crystal state is still a challenging issue for condensed matter physics and plays a key role in designing new materials. The crystallization kinetics and the resulting polycrystalline morphology are given by a complex interplay of crystal nucleation, growth, and ripening. A great deal of progress has been made in recent years using colloidal suspensions as model systems in the study of crystallization. Close analogies to atomic systems are observed which can be exploited to address questions not accessible in atomic solidification. Here we present systematic measurements of the crystallization kinetics of a charged colloidal …
The Dnmt2 RNA methyltransferase homolog of Geobacter sulfurreducens specifically methylates tRNA-Glu
2014
Dnmt2 enzymes are conserved in eukaryotes, where they methylate C38 of tRNA-Asp with high activity. Here, the activity of one of the very few prokaryotic Dnmt2 homologs from Geobacter species (GsDnmt2) was investigated. GsDnmt2 was observed to methylate tRNA-Asp from flies and mice. Unexpectedly, it had only a weak activity toward its matching Geobacter tRNA-Asp, but methylated Geobacter tRNA-Glu with good activity. In agreement with this result, we show that tRNA-Glu is methylated in Geobacter while the methylation is absent in tRNA-Asp. The activities of Dnmt2 enzymes from Homo sapiens, Drosophila melanogaster, Schizosaccharomyces pombe and Dictyostelium discoideum for methylation of the …
Tillage Impacts on Initial Soil Erosion in Wheat and Sainfoin Fields under Simulated Extreme Rainfall Treatments
2021
The main aim of this research was to determine the potential effects of different tillage systems (TT: traditional tillage and RT: reduced tillage) on runoff and erosion at two different locations (Kahramanmaras and Tarsus, Southern Turkey) under (i) fallow, (ii) wheat (Triticumaestivum L.), and (iii) sainfoin (Onobrychissativa L.) crops. Rainfall simulations with intensity of 120 mm h&minus
Pertosylated polyaza[n](9,10)anthracenophanes
1997
Abstract Pertosylated polyaza[n](9,10)antracenophanes have been obtained in high yields by a modification of the Richman-Atkins methodology. Molecular Mechanics calculations as well as the crystal structure of the N,N′,N″,N‴-Tetratosyl-2,6,9,13-tetraaza[14](9,10)anthracenophane 4 derivative reveal the existence of a well defined cavity where both the aromatic moiety and the nitrogen donor atoms converge. Reduced mobility of the aliphatic chain is also observed as well as the presence of some strain at the benzylic positions.
Time-Dependent Reduced Density Matrix Functional Theory
2012
In this chapter we will give an introduction into one-body reduced density matrix functional theory (RDMFT). This is a rather new method to deal with the quantum many-body problem. Especially the development of a time-dependent version, TDRDMFT , is very recent. Therefore, there are many open questions and the formalism has not crystalized yet into a standard form such as in (TD)DFT. Although RDMFT has similarities with DFT, there are many more differences. This chapter is too short for a full introduction into the wondrous world of RDMFT, but we hope to give an idea what (TD)RDMFT might bring.
Characterization of the Clinical and Immunologic Phenotype and Management of 157 Individuals with 56 Distinct Heterozygous NFKB1 Mutations
2020
Contains fulltext : 229571.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) BACKGROUND: An increasing number of NFKB1 variants are being identified in patients with heterogeneous immunologic phenotypes. OBJECTIVE: To characterize the clinical and cellular phenotype as well as the management of patients with heterozygous NFKB1 mutations. METHODS: In a worldwide collaborative effort, we evaluated 231 individuals harboring 105 distinct heterozygous NFKB1 variants. To provide evidence for pathogenicity, each variant was assessed in silico; in addition, 32 variants were assessed by functional in vitro testing of nuclear factor of kappa light polypeptide gene enhancer in B cells (NF-κB) signaling. RESU…
Design and Sensitivity Analysis of a Reduced-Order Rotor Flux Optimal Observer for Induction Motor Control
2007
This paper aims to give simple and effective design criteria of rotor flux reduced-order observers for motion control systems with induction motors. While the observer is optimized for rotor and stator resistance variations, a sensitivity analysis is carried out in the presence of variations of all the motor parameters by means of either transfer function from true to observed rotor flux or simulation in a MATLAB-SIMULINK environment, assuming the voltages supplying the motor to be different from those supplying the observer. The sensitivity analysis makes it possible to establish design criteria for the observer in question. The behaviour of the proposed reduced order observer is compared …
