Parallel Genetic Solution for Multiobjective MDO

1997

Publisher Summary This chapter reviews a multiobjective, multidisciplinary design optimization of two-dimensional airfoil designs. The control points on leading and trailing edges remain fixed, and the y-coordinates of the other control points are allowed to change during the optimization process. The grid for the Euler solver depends continuously and smoothly on the design parameters. The number of nodes and elements in the mesh might vary according to design because the meshes for the Helmholtz solver are done using the local fitting. The computations are made on an IBM SP2 parallel computer using high-performance switch and the MPICH message-passing library. As gradients are not required…

A Leibniz variety with almost polynomial growth

2005

Abstract Let F be a field of characteristic zero. In this paper we study the variety of Leibniz algebras V ˜ 1 defined by the identity y 1 ( y 2 y 3 ) ( y 4 y 5 ) ≡ 0 . We give a complete description of the space of multilinear identities in the language of Young diagrams through the representation theory of the symmetric group. As an outcome we show that the variety V ˜ 1 has almost polynomial growth, i.e., the sequence of codimensions of V ˜ 1 cannot be bounded by any polynomial function but any proper subvariety of V ˜ 1 as polynomial growth.

Quenched and annealed free energies

1984

This paper gives a simple exposition of the Nishimori method to solve certain quenched, random bond spin-glass models. It allows a transparent physical interpretation in terms of annealed systems. As an application a special solution of the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick model with a discrete probability distribution is obtained and shown to agree with the solution for the Gaussian case. This substantiates the claim that the averaged free energy does not depend on the details of the probability distribution Expose simple de la methode de Nishimori pour resoudre certains modeles de verres de spin avec interactions aleatoires. Synthesis and Structure-Affinity Relationships of Spirocyclic Benzopyrans with Exocyclic Amino Moiety

2019

σ1 and/or σ2 receptors play a crucial role in pathological conditions such as pain, neurodegenerative disorders, and cancer. A set of spirocyclic cyclohexanes with diverse O-heterocycles and amino moieties (general structure III) was prepared and pharmacologically evaluated. In structure-activity relationships studies, the σ1 receptor affinity and σ1:σ2 selectivity were correlated with the stereochemistry, the kind and substitution pattern of the O-heterocycle, and the substituents at the exocyclic amino moiety. cis-configured 2-benzopyran cis-11b bearing a methoxy group and a tertiary cyclohexylmethylamino moiety showed the highest σ1 affinity ( Ki = 1.9 nM) of this series of compounds. In…

Formatiivinen arviointitutkimus ympäristöjärjestelmän vaikutuksista - Green Office Viikin kampuksella

2014

2017

“Interneta vietne automatizētai ekrānuzņēmumu izveidei” ir tīmekļa vietne, kas paredzēta, lai atvieglotu interneta lietotājiem ekrānuzņēmumu veidošanas procesu, konkrētajā gadījumā tieši Twitter sīkziņas attēlu ekrānuzņēmumu apstrādi. Vietnē tiek automatizēts Twitter sīkziņu ekrānuzņēmumu izveides process, proti, lietotājam nepieciešams tikai ievadīt sīkziņas saiti vai Twitter kontu un lejupielādējamus sīkziņu attēlus izveidos sistēma. Veicot nelielas izmaiņas programmas kodā vietni būtu iespējams izmantot arī citu tīmekļa vietņu (piem. Facebook) publicēto ziņu un elementu ekrānuzņēmumu izveidei. Atslēgvārdi: Tīmekļa vietne, ekrānuzņēmums, Twitter, sīkziņa.

T9+HUD: Physical Keypad and HUD can Improve Driving Performance while Typing and Driving

2016

We introduce T9+HUD, a text entry method designed to decrease visual distraction while driving and typing. T9+HUD combines a physical 3x4 keypad on the steering wheel with a head-up-display (HUD) for projecting output on the windshield. Previous work suggests this may be a visually less demanding way to type while driving than the popular case which requires shifts of visual attention away from the road. We present a prototype design and report first results from a controlled evaluation in a driving simulator. While driving, the T9+HUD text entry rate was equal compared to a dashboard-mounted touchscreen device, but it reduced lane deviations by 70%. Furthermore, there was no significant di…

Spatially dynamic forest management to sustain biodiversity and economic returns.

2014

Production of marketed commodities and protection of biodiversity in natural systems often conflict and thus the continuously expanding human needs for more goods and benefits from global ecosystems urgently calls for strategies to resolve this conflict. In this paper, we addressed what is the potential of a forest landscape to simultaneously produce habitats for species and economic returns, and how the conflict between habitat availability and timber production varies among taxa. Secondly, we aimed at revealing an optimal combination of management regimes that maximizes habitat availability for given levels of economic returns. We used multi-objective optimization tools to analyze data fr…

Interface Detection Using a Quenched-Noise Version of the Edwards-Wilkinson Equation

2015

We report here a multipurpose dynamic-interface-based segmentation tool, suitable for segmenting planar, cylindrical, and spherical surfaces in 3D. The method is fast enough to be used conveniently even for large images. Its implementation is straightforward and can be easily realized in many environments. Its memory consumption is low, and the set of parameters is small and easy to understand. The method is based on the Edwards-Wilkinson equation, which is traditionally used to model the equilibrium fluctuations of a propagating interface under the influence of temporally and spatially varying noise. We report here an adaptation of this equation into multidimensional image segmentation, an…
