Long-transient conoscopic pattern technique

0038-1098; Recent results on laser induced anisotropy in terbium gallium garnet are extended to the dynamic regime. We observed that the characteristic conoscopic pattern formation time presents a quadratic dependence on the beam size. The observed pattern intensity is accounted for by a simple analytical formula. The transient refractive index change due to thermal stress in the terbium gallium garnet is determined. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Refractive index sensing by a silicon metasurface

The availability of smart materials represents a key enabling milestone for the realization of smart sensors. In this research field, optical sensing has gained a lot of attention in various applications ranging from basic physics to chemistry and biology. Here, we exploit the non-invasive nature of light to achieve an innovative sensor based on all-optical dielectric nano-resonators arranged in a periodic fashion. The proposed sensor can measure refractive index changes up to 10(-6).

Apmiglojuma adaptācija laikā

Bakalaura darbs ir uzrakstīts latviešu valodā uz 30 lapaspusēm. Tas satur 15 attēlus, 11 tabulas, 21 literatūras atsauci. Mērķis: Noskaidrot, kā redzes asums mainās apmiglojuma adaptācijas laikā emetropas un miopas refrakcijas dalībniekiem. Pētījumā piedalījās 6 emetropas un 6 miopas refrakcijas dalībnieki. Pētījums sastāvēja no četrām sesijām. Tika izmantoti divi dažādi apmiglojuma līmeņi monokulāros un binokulāros apstākļos. Miopas refrakcijas dalībniekiem adaptācija laikā notika visās pētījuma sesijās. Unravelling the Intertwined Atomic and Bulk Nature of Localised Excitons by Attosecond Spectroscopy

The electro-optical properties of most semiconductors and insulators of technological interest are dominated by the presence of electron-hole quasi-particles, called excitons. The manipulation of excitons in dielectrics has recently received great attention, with possible applications in different fields including optoelectronics and photonics. Here, we apply attosecond transient reflection spectroscopy in a sequential two-foci geometry and observe sub-femtosecond dynamics of a core-level exciton in bulk MgF2 single crystals. Optotipu kontrasta ietekme uz redzes asuma un subjektīvās refrakcijas novērtējumu

Darbs ir uzrakstīts latviešu valodā uz 46 lapaspusēm. Tas satur 25 attēlus, 1 tabulu, 2 pielikumus un 37 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis bija izpētīt optotipu kontrasta izmaiņas un šo izmaiņu ietekmi uz redzes asuma un subjektīvās refrakcijas noteikšanas precizitāti. Redzes asums un subjektīvā refrakcija, kas nodrošina maksimālo redzes asumu pie 6 dažādiem optotipa kontrastiem (100 %, 75 %, 50 %,30 %, 10 % un 5 %), tika noteikta 28 dalībniekiem. Papildus tika veikta redzes aprūpes specialistu anketēšana.
