Let’s Play Tinder! : Aesthetics of a Dating App
2021
This article provides an analysis of the “dating app” Tinder as an aesthetic ludic artifact. By scrutinizing the title’s features of gameplay and expressive–interpretive social interaction, Tinder usage is set into a frame theory context and shown to operate by multiple overlapping frames that allow romantic engagement to be entered as play and vice versa. peerReviewed
Latest trends in assessing pension reforms
2019
Old age pension provision constantly creates an increasing financial pressure on most of the EU countries, therefore some of European countries are in a further stage or reforming pension system, others already completed transformation and became an object of analysis and surveillance for researchers and policymakers. Over the years attitude towards the role of pension system in economy changed significantly from simple provision of retirement benefits and income distribution to indisputable contribution to a very wide range of economic, social and other processes. Nowadays pension system is supposed to be the instrument of impact and all reforms, even parametric, have a consequent effect o…
Osaaminen lastensuojelun sosiaalityössä : Esitys asiantuntijuutta tukevasta urapolkumallista
2020
2021
Because of containment policies, migrants between departure and destination encounter barriers and gray zones. They remain trapped in these places, where the asymmetry of power is exercised by force. Such places are tolerated as they are functional to the capitalist system. Planned refugee camps are part of this system; they are conceived as temporary devices to save human lives but are organized externally and self-organization is prevented. Can our discipline re-appropriate these issues often delegated to political and functionalist choices and provide effective answers? In the global landscape of migration, the experience of the Sahrawi can be a model of self-management and participation.
On Prefix Normal Words
2011
We present a new class of binary words: the prefix normal words. They are defined by the property that for any given length $k$, no factor of length $k$ has more $a$'s than the prefix of the same length. These words arise in the context of indexing for jumbled pattern matching (a.k.a. permutation matching or Parikh vector matching), where the aim is to decide whether a string has a factor with a given multiplicity of characters, i.e., with a given Parikh vector. Using prefix normal words, we give the first non-trivial characterization of binary words having the same set of Parikh vectors of factors. We prove that the language of prefix normal words is not context-free and is strictly contai…
Permutations of zero-sumsets in a finite vector space
2020
Abstract In this paper, we consider a finite-dimensional vector space 𝒫 {{\mathcal{P}}} over the Galois field GF ( p ) {\operatorname{GF}(p)} , with p being an odd prime, and the family ℬ k x {{\mathcal{B}}_{k}^{x}} of all k-sets of elements of 𝒫 {\mathcal{P}} summing up to a given element x. The main result of the paper is the characterization, for x = 0 {x=0} , of the permutations of 𝒫 {\mathcal{P}} inducing permutations of ℬ k 0 {{\mathcal{B}}_{k}^{0}} as the invertible linear mappings of the vector space 𝒫 {\mathcal{P}} if p does not divide k, and as the invertible affinities of the affine space 𝒫 {\mathcal{P}} if p divides k. The same question is answered also in the case where …
Music preferences based on audio features, and its relation to personality
2009
Recent studies have summarized reported music preferences by genre into four broadly defined categories, which relate to various personality characteristics. Other research has indicated that genre classification is ambiguous and inconsistent. This ambiguity suggests that research relating personality to music preferences based on genre could benefit from a more objective definition of music. This problem is addressed by investigating how music preferences linked to objective audio features relate to personality. Participants (N = 354; 165 males) completed a personality measure and rated their preference to 120 music clips from various music (sub-)genres (e.g., classical, rock). Principle C…
Emotion, Personality, Use of Music In Everyday Life and Musical Preferences
2013
The use of music in everyday life (UofM) is an area with growing interest. Scales for the measurement can be criticized despite their reliability and validity. Additionally, the association of UofM with personality theories has not been carried out thoroughly. Within an ongoing project, the IAAM (Inventory for the measurement of Activation and Arousal modulation by Music) has been constructed. Within the existing study, the reliability and validity of the IAAM-scales are to be examined. The assignment of the IAAM-scales to the biological based BIS-BAS-model (Gray & McNaughton, 2000) should be proven against the explanation of the IAAM-scales by the personality model of Eysenck (1967).
