Sociolinguistic Resilience Among Young Academics. A Quantitative Analysis in Germany and France

2021

International audience; Already Friedrich Schiller was convinced that language mirrors a nation. If this is the case, then the often deplored ‘brutalization of language’, which has almost become a buzzword in the wake of the refugee crisis in Germany that started in 2015, points to a serious social crisis by raising questions of (national) identity and self-understanding. Based on newly introduced sociolinguistic resilience concept in line with the concept of group focus enmity (GFE) combining the dimensions of co-adaptation and co-evolution of linguistic signs, this article presents preliminary empirical evidence of a ‘classroom’ survey conducted among students in four university towns in …

Standards for the diagnosis and management of complex regional pain syndrome: Results of a European Pain Federation task force.

2019

Background: Complex regional pain syndrome is a painful and disabling post-traumatic primary pain disorder. Acute and chronic complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) are major clinical challenges. In Europe, progress is hampered by significant heterogeneity in clinical practice. We sought to establish standards for the diagnosis and management of CRPS. Methods: The European Pain Federation established a pan-European task force of experts in CRPS who followed a four-stage consensus challenge process to produce mandatory quality standards worded as grammatically imperative (must-do) statements. Results: We developed 17 standards in 8 areas of care. There are 2 standards in diagnosis, 1 in multi…

Heat wave occurrences over Senegal during spring: regionalization and synoptic patterns.

2020

18 pages; International audience; Based on 12 Senegalese stations of the Global Summary of the Day (GSOD) database (1979–2014), heat waves (HW) are defined for each station in spring (March–April–May, the hottest season in Senegal) as the daily maximum temperature (Tx), minimum temperature (Tn), or average apparent temperature of the day (AT), exceeding the corresponding 95% mobile percentile for at least three consecutive days. A hierarchical cluster analysis used to regionalize HW in these 12 stations is applied to simultaneous occurrences of daily temperature peaks over their 95% mobile percentiles. Three homogeneous zones of four stations each are identified (Zone 1, Zone 2 and Zone 3),…

Coastal high-frequency radars in the Mediterranean - Part 2: Applications in support of science priorities and societal needs

2022

The Mediterranean Sea is a prominent climate-change hot spot, with many socioeconomically vital coastal areas being the most vulnerable targets for maritime safety, diverse met-ocean hazards and marine pollution. Providing an unprecedented spatial and temporal resolution at wide coastal areas, high-frequency radars (HFRs) have been steadily gaining recognition as an effective land-based remote sensing technology for continuous monitoring of the surface circulation, increasingly waves and occasionally winds. HFR measurements have boosted the thorough scientific knowledge of coastal processes, also fostering a broad range of applications, which has promoted their integration in coastal ocean …

Quality culture at Nordic universities

2022

This study aimed to investigate common features and ways of understanding quality culture (QC) within higher education institutions (HEIs) in Nordic countries. While the concept of QC is commonly accepted and often used, its meaning is not always clear. This paper focuses on how Nordic universities frame QC in their internal documentation. The Nordic context was chosen due to the close cooperation on quality issues that characterise HEIs within the Nordic region. The discussion section of this paper outlines QC in relation to quality assurance (QA) among HEIs within the European and Nordic regions. Sixteen universities participated in the study by sharing documents describing their QCs. The…

Most hippocampal CA1 pyramidal cells in rabbits increase firing during awake sharp-wave ripples and some do so in response to external stimulation an…

2020

Hippocampus forms neural representations of real-life events including multimodal information of spatial and temporal context. These representations, i.e. organized sequences of neuronal firing are repeated during following rest and sleep, especially when so-called sharp-wave ripples (SPW-Rs) characterize hippocampal local-field potentials. This SPW-R –related replay is thought to underlie memory consolidation. Here, we set out to explore how hippocampal CA1 pyramidal cells respond to the conditioned stimulus during trace eyeblink conditioning and how these responses manifest during SPW-Rs in awake adult female New Zealand White rabbits. Based on reports in rodents, we expected SPW-Rs to ta…

The nature of reserch in the history of education within the scientific environment up till hte year 1991

2017

Developing the regional knowledge and sharing cooperativeapplications (TT Cloud)

2014

International audience; Since the 2000s, several researchers from various disciplines recognize and questionthe information structure as the communication processes in territorial approaches.Catalyse method modelled some, whose specifications have been described over thepublications of the INTI network (available on-http://halshs.archivesouvertes.fr/INTI/fr/) or disciplinary (see www.sfsic. org andhttp://rfsic.revues.org/).The structuring of information has seen technological developments described byother colleagues on INTI (JJ. Partnerzy bez partnerstwa? Realizacja zasady partnerstwa w procesie wdrażania regionalnych programów operacyjnych w Polsce w perspektywie finansowej …

2021

W niniejszym artykule podjęto próbę określenia stopnia realizacji zasady partnerstwa w procesie wdrażania regionalnych programów operacyjnych (RPO) w Polsce w obecnej perspektywie finansowej (2014–2020). Przyjęto założenie, że instytucjonalnym sposobem realizacji zasady partnerstwa jest powołanie i funkcjonowanie komitetów monitorujących (KM). Analizą porównawczą objęto praktyczne aspekty działania komitetów w ramach RPO w trzech województwach: lubuskim, świętokrzyskim i kujawsko-pomorskim. Do celów porównawczych wykorzystano następujące parametry instytucjonalno-organizacyjne: liczba posiedzeń komitetów w perspektywie finansowej 2014–2020, liczba przeprowadzonych procedur głosowania obiego…

Demographic determinants of creativity: the analysis of the development of creative potential and forecast for the Baltic states

2017

AbstractHuman capital, affected by the demographic determinants, nowadays becomes a novel driver of change and regional development. Changes in the modern economy determine the future leading role of human capital, especially its creative dimension in the development of modern, sustainable competitive advantages of countries and regions. Considering the negative demographical tendencies in the Baltic States, the aim of this paper is to analyse and forecast the development of creative potential in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Our methodology is based on the estimation of a regression model describing the relations between Global Creativity Index (GCI) and its components with the available …
