Diaspora Start-Up Programs and Creative Industries: Evidence from Romania
2021
Romania is one of the main countries of origin for intra-European migration. The national authorities recently implemented the first major program —Diaspora Start-up—to support the business initiatives of Romanian citizens who live abroad and who are interested in opening a business in their home country. This scheme was developed in parallel with a broader program—Romania Start-up Plus—which was designed to support the entrepreneurial initiatives of individuals residing inside the country. These programs have already supported over 8,600 non-agricultural start-ups created in urban areas. This study conducted a comparative analysis of the two programs based on different criteria and explore…
Rola i znaczenie norm regionalnych w systemie norm prawa międzynarodowego publicznego
2017
W Karcie Narodów Zjednoczonych dostrzeżono rolę i znaczenie norm regionalnych, z jednoczesnym zaznaczeniem niesprzeczności tych norm z postanowieniami wynikającymiz Karty Narodów Zjednoczonych.

Regional odontodysplasia of the deciduous and permanent teeth associated with eruption disorders: A case report
2008
WOS: 000259667500007 PubMed: 18758400 Regional odontodysplasia (RO) is an unusual, non-hereditary anomaly of the dental hard tissues with characteristic clinical, radiographic and histological findings. Clinically, RO affects the primary and permanent dentition in the maxilla and mandible or both jaws. Radiographically, there is a lack of contrast between the enamel dentin, both of which are less radiopaque than unaffected counterparts. Additionally, enamel and dentin layers are thin, giving the teeth a "ghost-like" appearance. Histologically, areas of hypocalcified enamel are visible and enamel prisms appear irregular in direction. Coronal dentin is fibrous, consisting of clefts and a redu…
STUDENTS’ PERSPECTIVES ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MUSICAL ACTIVITIES IN PRESCHOOL EDUCATION
2018
Aim. The aim of the study is to find out students’ perspectives on the necessity, readiness and disturbing factors of implementing musical activities in preschool. The theoretical part of the paper describes the particularity of preschool teachers’ work, the children’s interest in musical activities, and the benefits of implementing musical activities in preschool.
Method. The empirical study involved 168 students (N=168), of which 132 students (N=132) are already working as preschool teachers in parallel with their study at the university. The study identified three questions: why do preschool teachers use musical activities? What factors prevent a preschool teacher from using music…
Classical and reverse substituent effects in meta- and para-substituted nitrobenzene derivatives
2017
Electron-accepting properties of the nitro group were studied in a series of meta- and para-X-substituted nitrobenzene derivatives (X = NMe2, NH2, OH, OMe, CH3, H, F, Cl, CF3, CN, CHO, COMe, CONH2, COOH, COCl, NO2, NO). For this purpose Hammett-like approaches were applied based on quantum chemistry modeling; the B3LYP/6-311++ G(d,p) method was used. The substituent effect (SE) was characterized by the mutually interrelated descriptors: the charge of the substituent active region, cSAR(X), and substituent effect stabilization energy, SESE, as well as substituent constants, σ. Classical SE is realized by dependences of the structural parameters of the nitro group (ONO angle and NO bond lengt…
Initial-Stage Suicide Bereavement Experiences: A Case Study.
2022
This study aimed to shed light on the initial-stage bereavement experiences of an individual bereaved by suicide, at three months from the loss of his spouse to suicide. A semi-structured in-depth interview was conducted with the individual, a man in his thirties. The data were analyzed using qualitative assimilation analysis, based on the Assimilation Model and the Assimilation of Problematic Experiences Scale (APES). The APES ratings of the interview revealed that the individual’s bereavement was associated with the earlier stages of APES (all scoring under 3.5). In addition, the swift and frequent fluctuations in the APES ratings gave indications that the bereavement was unstable and co…
Clinical Behavior of Ceramic, Hybrid and Composite Onlays. A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
2020
A systematic review and meta-analysis was performed to analyze the survival of onlay restorations in the posterior region, their clinical behavior according to the material used (ceramic reinforced with lithium disilicate, conventional feldspathic ceramic or reinforced with leucite; hybrid materials and composite), possible complications, and the factors influencing restoration success. The systematic review was based on the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) statement, without publication date or language restrictions. An electronic search was made in the PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Cochrane databases. After discarding duplicate publications and stu…
Institutional arrangements for sustainable development: Cases from the Navarra Province (Spain).
2015
After more than 20 years of the Earth Summit, Sustainable development is still recognized as one of the main challenges of the XXIst century. World leaders are putting new emphasis on the need to resolve urgent environmental challenges underlining their link with the wellbeing of humankind and the very conditions that made life possible on the planet. We are immersed in complex socio-ecological systems where sectoral or simplified responses are not adequate. A more systemic vision is imperative to effectively address the challenges faced. New approaches are being developed to integrate social, environmental and economic concerns in all human activities. Particular attention is given to deco…
Human Capital as Sustainability Factor in Regional Development - Some Observations in Cross-Border Regions of Moravian-Silesian and Opole Regions
2021
The main goal of cooperation of European border areas is to ensure the sustainable development, to reduce the negative effects of borders as administrative, legal and natural barriers, and to better use the untapped potential. That also refers to Moravian-Silesian and Opole regions. The objective of this paper is to present a research results of the human capital as a component of one of the dimensions of sustainable development concept in the case of two cross-borderly cooperating regions in Czech Republic and Poland: Moravian-Silesian and Opole. The research was based on a Eurostat data that include the time range between 2004 and 2020. The article is a continuation of the research, the r…
