IAP proteins as targets for drug development in oncology

2013

Laurence Dubrez,1,2 Jean Berthelet,1,2 Valérie Glorian,1,21Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (Inserm), Dijon, France; 2Université de Bourgogne, Dijon, FranceAbstract: The inhibitors of apoptosis (IAPs) constitute a family of proteins involved in the regulation of various cellular processes, including cell death, immune and inflammatory responses, cell proliferation, cell differentiation, and cell motility. There is accumulating evidence supporting IAP-targeting in tumors: IAPs regulate various cellular processes that contribute to tumor development, such as cell death, cell proliferation, and cell migration; their expressio…

Wie gut läßt sich der Wachstumstyp schätzen?

1990

The purpose of this study was to determine to what extent growth type can be predicted using different information. Correlations between estimated values and those measuring cephalometric growth indicators revealed that the growth type can be evaluated reasonably well by merely viewing the cephalogram. The viewer is guided by form which is represented by the Go2 angle according to Jarabak. Growth type can also be evaluated from a profile photography. The assessment can be improved if one uses a wooden spatula to determine the mandibular and occlusal planes.

Conformational investigation of αβ-dehydropeptides

2009

Solution conformations of three series of model peptides, homochiral Ac-Pro-L-Xaa-NHCH3 and heterochiral Ac-Pro-D-Xaa-NHCH3 (Xaa = Val, Phe, Leu, Abu, Ala) as well as alpha,beta-unsaturated Ac-Pro-delta Xaa-NHCH3 [delta Xaa = delta Val, (Z)-delta Phe, (Z)-delta Leu, (Z)-delta Abu] were investigated in CDCl3 and CH2Cl2 by 1H-, 13C-NMR, and FTIR spectroscopy. NH stretching absorption spectra, solvent shifts delta delta for NH (Xaa) and NHCH3 on going from CDCl3 to (CD3)2SO, diagnostic interresidue proton NOEs, and trans-cis isomer ratios were examined. These studies performed showed the essential difference in conformational propensities between homochiral peptides (L-Xaa) on the one hand and…

Muscle-Tendon Interaction During Human Dolphin-Kick Swimming

2019

Without high impact forces, it is not clear how humans can utilize tendon elasticity during low-impact activities. The purpose of the present study was to examine the muscle-tendon behavior together with the electromyographic (EMG) activities of the vastus lateralis (VL) muscle during the human dolphin-kicking. In a swimming pool, each subject (n = 11) swam the 25 m dolphin-kicking at two different speeds (NORMAL and FAST). Surface EMGs were recorded from the VL and biceps femoris (BF) muscles. Simultaneous recordings of the knee joint angle by electro-goniometer and of the VL fascicle length by ultrasonography were used to calculate the muscle-tendon unit and tendinous length of VL(L-MTU a…

Trunk and lower limb muscle activation in linear, circular and spin back kicks

2015

Background and Study Aim: As any martial art, taekwondo can be classified as a specialty that requires high technical skills, such as a fine motor control both in static and dynamic conditions. Practitioners predominantly use kicks with high amplitude in both combat and technique (poomse) modalities. The aim of this study was the knowledge about trunk and lower limb muscle activation according to the type of kick (circular, linear and spin back kick) in the taekwondo technique modality. Material and Methods: Twelve healthy and elite male taekwondo athletes voluntarily participated in this study. Surface electromyography (EMG) during maximal isometric voluntary contractions (MVC) and executi…

Use of deeper plantar flexor muscles in low torque isometric and concentric plantar flexion tasks

2016

Coordination of a task such as plantar flexion might seem simple, but is in reality achieved through the activation of several muscles—muscles that play an important role in locomotion and posture control. These can be divided in to two groups, superficial and deep plantar flexors. It has been shown that although people usually produce certain well learned movements very similarly, some variability in the coordination might occur. This is also the case with the ankle plantar flexors as shown by Finni et al. (2006) and Masood et al (2014). Purpose of the study was to examine whether some individuals use their deeper plantar flexors to a greater extent than others and to see whether the relat…

Additional file 1: of RIP-Chip analysis supports different roles for AGO2 and GW182 proteins in recruiting and processing microRNA targets

2019

Analysis of miRNA expression in AGO2 and GW182-IP samples. a) miRNA expression level in AGO2-IP samples (average value from the three performed experiments) vs the expression level in IN samples (average value from the three performed experiments). The Pearson correlation values reported on the top of the picture were computed by using all the expressed miRNA, and the top 100 or 50 expressed miRNAs. The colored points refer to miRNA that have been validated by RT-PCR data. Green points refer to hsa-miR-141-3p, hsa-miR-21-5p, hsa-let-7f-5p, hsa-miR-16-5p, hsa-miR-24-3p, hsa-miR-27a-3p, hsa-miR-23a-3p. The red point refers to hsa-miR-1260a. b) Comparison of IP/IN ratios obtained by RT-PCR dat…
