Light-induced proton slip and proton leak at the thylakoid membrane

A treatment of leaves of Spinacia oleracea L. with light or with the thiol reagent dithiothreitol in the dark led to partly uncoupled thylakoids. After induction in intact leaves, the partial uncoupling was irreversible at the level of isolated thylakoids. We distinguish between uncoupling by proton slip, which means a decrease of the H+/e(-) -ratio due to less efficient proton pumping, and proton leak as defined by enhanced kinetics of proton efflux. Proton slip and proton leak made about equal contributions to the total uncoupling. The enhanced proton efflux kinetics corresponded to reduction of subunit CF1-gamma of the ATP synthase as shown by fluorescence labeling of thylakoid proteins …

The Stachys L. genus has been used in traditional medicine to treat skin inflammations, stomach disorders, and stress. The aim of this study was to investigate the chemical profile and biological activity of the methanolic extract of Stachys spreitzenhoferi Heldr. (Lamiaceae) aerial parts, collected on the island of Kythira, South Greece. Bakalaura darbs ir veltīts televīzijas reitingu prognozēšanai. Darba mērķis ir izstrādāt prognozēšanas modeļi, izmantojot divkāršo sezonālo izlīdzināšanu. Darbā ir apskatīti laikrindu analīzes pamatjēdzieni un sezonālā laikrindas modelēšana, kura tiek veikta ar dekompozīcijas metodi. Laikrindu analīzei un prognozēšanai tiek izmantotas Microsoft Excel un SPSS programmas.

PON2 (paraoxonase-2) is a ubiquitously expressed antioxidative protein which is largely found in the ER (endoplasmic reticulum). Addressing the cytoprotective functions of PON2, we observed that PON2 overexpression provided significant resistance to ER-stress-induced caspase 3 activation when the ER stress was induced by interference with protein modification (by tunicamycin or dithiothreitol), but not when ER stress was induced by disturbance of Ca2+ homoeostasis (by thapsigargin or A23187). These groups achieved significant relevance in Galicia, especially in the city of Compostela, which, year after year, encouraged and supported the formation of groups of this nature to liven up the carnivals in the different Spanish cities. The Patres ecclesiae?s works were a frequent topic of discussion at the time in which many humanists stood against the decadent medieval scholastics. That Juan Luis Vives was part of this tradition is demonstrated in his commentaries on Saint Augustine works. Despite its pedagogical function, the scholia of the Valencian author became quite subjective. In this sense, his ecdotic work or, specially, his «criticisms and censures» can be mentioned. Here, Vives strongly disapproves of the intense political and intellectual turmoil of his epoch. Maģistra darba „ES fondu apguves problēmu risinājumi Latvijas būvniecības nozarē” mērķis ir izpētīt Latvijas būvniecības nozares attīstību ietekmējošos cēloņus un faktorus, kas īpaši kavē piešķirto ES fondu līdzekļu apguvi, kā arī izstrādāt ieteikumus efektīvai līdzekļu apguvei. Maģistra darbā pētāmā problēma ir saistīta ar to, ka šodien vairāki būvniecības uzņēmumi nespēj pilnā apmērā apgūt pieejamos ES fondu līdzekļus. Šādu situāciju būvniecības vidē izraisa dažādi faktori, kas īpaši kavē būvniecības nozares attīstību un ES finansējuma apguvi. Maģistra darbs sastāv no 11 tabulām, 28 attēliem un 9 pielikumiem. Tika izmantoti 144 literatūras avoti, t.sk., 17 zinātniskie raksti.

W niniejszym artykule zostaje wprowadzone do obiegu naukowego nowe źródło do badań nad historią armii litewskiej w okresie wielkiej wojny północnej (1700–1721), którym jest projekt komputu z 1703 r. Znajduje się on w Bibliotece Kórnickiej Polskiej Akademii Nauk w rękopisie o sygnaturze 985. W inwentarzu rękopisów biblioteki widnieje natomiast jako komput z 1706 r. Trudno jednak ustalić faktyczną datę jego powstania. Możliwe jest jedynie oszacowanie pewnych cezur. Sporządzony został na pewno przed 27 listopada 1703 r. (wprowadzenie w życie postanowień rady senatu w Jaworowie o pozbawieniu urzędów Sapiehów). Natomiast prawdopodobnie powstał przed lub w trakcie sejmu lubelskiego (11 czerwca – …
