Masteroppgave religion REL500 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 This master thesis involves what justifications and reflections young Muslim girls have for using the hijab or not. Through depth-interviews of 15 youths, aged between 13 and 19 at different schools in two regions in Norway who did and did not wear the hijab, this thesis closely examines their thoughts regarding the Islamic headscarf. Through my work with responses from the informants, a pattern centering round whether they viewed wearing the hijab as a religious injunction or as a free choice rapidly emerged. Master's thesis in Religion, philosophy and society (REL500) In this thesis I will take a closer look at Julian Savulescu’s opinions that parents have a moral obligation to heal and enhance their children’s genes because, according to him, it will give them the chance of a better life than letting nature decide with its unpredictable outcome. I will look into different theories of well-being and discuss if enhancements will in fact give someone a better life than what’s natural before I will argue in favor of using passive genetic interventions to heal the most severe illnesses instead of enhancing. Masteroppgave religion REL500 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 This dissertation aims to explore the thoughts and attitudes of nine Palestinian Muslims on religious legitimated nonviolence and violence. The participants work with or as a part of peace-organizations or have connections to such organizations otherwise. Therefore, one can assume that they already have thought about the matter and that they draw in the direction of nonviolence. The results show that these people, whose daily life is affected by an active conflict where Islam is viewed as one of the main reasons for violence, still work for peace and nonviolence, and also uses Islam actively in their argumentation.
