Assessing the low complexity of protein sequences via the low complexity triangle.

2020

Background Proteins with low complexity regions (LCRs) have atypical sequence and structural features. Their amino acid composition varies from the expected, determined proteome-wise, and they do not follow the rules of structural folding that prevail in globular regions. One way to characterize these regions is by assessing the repeatability of a sequence, that is, calculating the local propensity of a region to be part of a repeat. Results We combine two local measures of low complexity, repeatability (using the RES algorithm) and fraction of the most frequent amino acid, to evaluate different proteomes, datasets of protein regions with specific features, and individual cases of proteins…

kq-Representation for pseudo-bosons, and completeness of bi-coherent states

2017

We show how the Zak $kq$-representation can be adapted to deal with pseudo-bosons, and under which conditions. Then we use this representation to prove completeness of a discrete set of bi-coherent states constructed by means of pseudo-bosonic operators. The case of Riesz bi-coherent states is analyzed in detail.

Les foyers de protection judiciaire de la jeunesse et la prise en charge des jeunes auteurs de délit : représentations sociales et réflexions autour …

2018

The educators’ work in juvenile justice residential communities and their capacity of affective attunement to the adolescent's needs is essential for the creation of a protective and enriching context for the adolescent and his life trajectories. This article aims to explore the social representations of educators and young people in residential communities in Italy, through the analysis of their discourses gathered during focus groups. Our results reveal the need to compare these representations and work to narrow the gap between the caregivers and the users, in order to improve the relationship between the different protagonists of the interaction and, consequently, the possibilities of g…

Apposition, contradiction, conflict and domination

2014

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to qualitatively describe and explain the contemporary Finnish discourse of municipal managers. The emphasis within is on analyzing the encounters of the public sector management discourse and the private sector management discourse, and the effects that these encounters have on the construction and representation of municipal management. Design/methodology/approach – The study is based on a three-phase discourse analysis, proceeding from the textual and linguistic level through interpretive analysis to critical analysis. This analysis is based on the proceedings and presentations of a seminar of municipal leadership and management, arranged in 2013 i…

Relative cohomology spaces for some osp($n|2$)-modules

2018

International audience; In this work, we describe the H-invariant, so(n)-relative cohomology of a natural class of osp(n|2)-modules M, for n ≠ 2. The Lie superalgebra osp(n|2) can be realized as a superalgebra of vector fields on the superline R1|n. This yields canonical actions on spaces of densities and differential operators on the superline. The above result gives the zero, first, and second cohomology spaces for these modules of densities and differential operators.

Singular quadratic Lie superalgebras

2012

In this paper, we give a generalization of results in \cite{PU07} and \cite{DPU10} by applying the tools of graded Lie algebras to quadratic Lie superalgebras. In this way, we obtain a numerical invariant of quadratic Lie superalgebras and a classification of singular quadratic Lie superalgebras, i.e. those with a nonzero invariant. Finally, we study a class of quadratic Lie superalgebras obtained by the method of generalized double extensions.

Representation Theorems for Solvable Sesquilinear Forms

2017

New results are added to the paper [4] about q-closed and solvable sesquilinear forms. The structure of the Banach space $\mathcal{D}[||\cdot||_\Omega]$ defined on the domain $\mathcal{D}$ of a q-closed sesquilinear form $\Omega$ is unique up to isomorphism, and the adjoint of a sesquilinear form has the same property of q-closure or of solvability. The operator associated to a solvable sesquilinear form is the greatest which represents the form and it is self-adjoint if, and only if, the form is symmetric. We give more criteria of solvability for q-closed sesquilinear forms. Some of these criteria are related to the numerical range, and we analyse in particular the forms which are solvable…
