Expertise was studied in cognitive psychology in order to understand the psychological mechanisms and the abilities involved in various areas of expertise. Frequency-Sliding Generalized Cross-Correlation: A Sub-Band Time Delay Estimation Approach

The generalized cross correlation (GCC) is regarded as the most popular approach for estimating the time difference of arrival (TDOA) between the signals received at two sensors. Time delay estimates are obtained by maximizing the GCC output, where the direct-path delay is usually observed as a prominent peak. Moreover, GCCs play also an important role in steered response power (SRP) localization algorithms, where the SRP functional can be written as an accumulation of the GCCs computed from multiple sensor pairs. Rational supershapes for surface reconstruction

Simple representation of complex 3D data sets is a fundamental problem in computer vision. From a quality control perspective, it is crucial to use efficient and simple techniques do define a reference model for further recognition or comparison tasks. In this paper, we focus on reverse engineering 3D data sets by recovering rational supershapes to build an implicit function to represent mechanical parts. Bezier curves approximation of triangularized surfaces using SVG

This paper presents a technique to convert surfaces, obtained through a Data Dependent Triangulation, in Bezier Curves by using a Scalable Vector Graphics File format. The method starts from a Data Dependent Triangulation, traces a map of the boundaries present into the triangulation, using the characteristics of the triangles, then the estimated barycenters are connected, and a final conversion of the resulting polylines in curves is performed. After the curves have been estimated and closed the final representation is obtained by sorting the surfaces in a decreasing order. The proposed techniques have been compared with other raster to vector conversions in terms of perceptual quality.

El SandBox, una aplicación de representación espacial de realidad aumentada de interés para el aprendizaje de la geografía

La SandBox est une technologie développée par l’UC Davis qui permet de modéliser des terrains en réalité augmentée. Il s’agit d’un système permettant de sculpter dans le sable un paysage qui va être topographié par l’ordinateur. Une carte d’élévation (2D), composée de courbes et de couleurs, est projetée dans l’espace d’expérimentation (3D). L’opération se fait en direct, ce qui permet une grande interactivité.
