In this paper is the development of a high granularity photovoltaic model that considers complex nonuniform shadow conditions and different cell temperatures. The model integrates the nonuniform shading characteristics such as different areas for each cell, different direct and indirect solar irradiations for each cell, and different temperatures. The area of the shadow on the PV module is found using image processing. The bond graph formalism facilitates the representation of the energy exchange between the different parts of the PV module. This paper presents adaptable methods for achieving fast collision detection using the GPU and Nvidia CUDA together with Octrees. Earlier related work have focused on serial methods, while this paper presents a parallel solution which shows that there is a great increase in time if the number of operations is large. Imitation learning has been recognized as a promising technique to teach robots advanced skills. It is based on the idea that robots could learn new behaviors by observing and imitating the behaviors of other skilled actors. We propose an adaptive probabilistic graphical model which copes with three core issues of any imitative behavior: observation, representation and reproduction of skills. We recently demonstrated the high discrimination capability as well as the high sensitivity to small intensity variations of the sliced orthogonal nonlinear generalized (SONG) correlation. This nonlinear correlation has a correlation matrix representation. Previous papers considered only the principal diagonal elements of the correlation matrix. Plenoptic image watermarking to preserve copyright

Common camera loses a huge amount of information obtainable from scene as it does not record the value of individual rays passing a point and it merely keeps the summation of intensities of all the rays passing a point. Plenoptic images can be exploited to provide a 3D representation of the scene and watermarking such images can be helpful to protect the ownership of these images. In this paper we propose a method for watermarking the plenoptic images to achieve this aim. The performance of the proposed method is validated by experimental results and a compromise is held between imperceptibility and robustness.

Latent Semantic Description of Iconic Scenes

It is proposed an approach for the automatic description of scenes using a LSA–like technique. The described scenes are composed by a set of elements that can be geometric forms or iconic representation of objects. Every icon is characterized by a set of attributes like shape, colour and position. Each scene is related to a set of sentences describing their content. The proposed approach builds a data driven vector semantic space where the scenes and the sentences are mapped. A new scene can be mapped in this created space accordingly to a suitable metric. Preliminary experimental results show the effectiveness of the procedure.

Cognitive aspects of the human mind form the foundations of solving usability problems. However, being able to use a technology is not the only critical psychological question in the design of successful HTI. In addition to understanding users’ capabilities, it is equally important to comprehend their preferences and what they want to accomplish with the help of technologies. Knowledge of the dynamic mind—in particular human emotions, motives, and personality—helps address such ‘liking and wanting’ concerns in HTI design.
