A Knowledge Interface System for Information and Cyber Security Using Semantic Wiki
2018
Resilience against information and cyber security threats has become an essential ability for organizations to maintain business continuity. As bulletproof security is an unattainable goal, organizations need to concentrate to select optimal countermeasures against information and cyber security threats. Implementation of cyber risk management actions require special knowledge and resources, which especially small and medium-size enterprises often lack. Information and cyber security risk management establish knowledge intensive business processes, which can be assisted with a proper knowledge management system. This paper analyzes how Semantic MediaWiki could be used as a platform to assis…
Applying complexity science to air traffic management
2015
Versión aceptada obtenida del archivo digital en línea WestminsterResearch de la Universidad de Westminster. Complexity science is the multidisciplinary study of complex systems. Its marked network orientation lends itself well to transport contexts. Key features of complexity science are introduced and defined, with a specific focus on the application to air traffic management. An overview of complex network theory is presented, with examples of its corresponding metrics and multiple scales. Complexity science is starting to make important contributions to performance assessment and system design: selected, applied air traffic management case studies are explored. The important contexts of…

Psychosocial Safety Climate as a Factor in Organisational Resilience: Implications for Worker Psychological Health, Resilience, and Engagement
2019
Organisations are undergoing unprecedented changes in order to survive in a global and fiercely competitive capitalist market. Resilience is the capacity to endure challenges and is an attribute highly sought after in organisations, but is a construct typically theorised at the individual level. We argue that the notion of resilience can be applied at a systems level to the organisational context, and that organisational resilience presages individual resilience. Organisational resilience is defined as the capacity of the organization to cope with challenges through flexible, adaptable, humane, and interactive systems, whilst maintaining the health, individual resilience, and engagement of …
Early improvement as a resilience signal predicting later remission to antidepressant treatment in patients with Major Depressive Disorder: Systemati…
2017
Early improvement of depressive symptoms during the first two weeks of antidepressant treatment has been discussed to be a resilience signal predicting a later positive treatment outcome in patients with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). However, the predictive value of early improvement varies between studies, and the use of different antidepressants may explain heterogeneous results. The objective of this review was to assess the predictive value of early improvement on later response and remission and to identify antidepressants with the highest chance of early improvement. We included 17 randomized controlled trials investigating early improvement in 14,779 adult patients with MDD compar…
'Resilience is a strategic priority' : conceptual analysis of the European Union’s Global Strategy
2016
The aim was to study how resilience is defined, which themes it linked to and how its relevance is reasoned in the Global Strategy for the European Union’s Foreign and Security Policy (EUGS). The concept is generally connected to facing risk and adversity and therefore it was intriguing that it is employed over 30 times in the less than 60 pages of the strategy. Pragmatic turn in social sciences was one possible way to explain the rise of resilience in politics. There are already several articles written on the EUGS and resilience as its strategic priority, but they have studied these questions. Analysis was done through conceptual history – a method strongly impacted by linguistic turn. Si…
Challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and design responses in public space: Towards strategies for resilient post-Covid cities
2022
The Covid-19 pandemic triggered governments and designers to revalue and redesign public spaces. This paper focuses on the various design responses to Covid-19 proposed and implemented in public spaces. In particular, we identify the kinds of challenges that such design responses address and the strategies that they use. We selected 56 design examples, largely collected from internet sources. By analyzing the design examples we identified five Covid-related challenges that were addressed in public space: sustaining amenities, keeping a distance, feeling connected, staying mentally healthy, and expanding health infrastructures. For each challenge, we articulated 2 to 6 design strategies. The…
Trasformazioni urbane tra criticità irrisolte e sfide moderne
2021
Esiste quella ideale, ovver…
Autoefficacia e resilienza del docente universitario
2023
In the field of university teaching, many research highlights that the role of the university teacher acquires a different connotation than the traditional model, assuming today the function of guide, accompanist, facilitator and mentor (Kim, Khera & German, 2014; Sultan, 2018). The research aims to provide theoretical references on the quality of teaching in universities and teacher training, to improve it, in a research report agile stimulating interpretation of results, useful within a TLC (Teaching and Learning Center). Taking about the recent results of the reference literature, we want to verify if the effectiveness of innovative teaching interventions (Flipped and Service Learnin…
Long‐term molecular differences between resilient and susceptible mice after a single traumatic exposure
2022
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a heterogeneous disorder induced by trauma, resulting in severe long-term impairments of an individual's mental health. PTSD does not develop in every individual and, thus, some individuals are more resilient. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms are poorly understood. Here, we aimed to elucidate these processes. We used a single-trauma PTSD model in mice to induce long-term maladaptive behaviours and profiled the mice 4 weeks after trauma into resilient or susceptible individuals. The classification of phenotype was based on individual responses in different behavioural experiments. We analysed microbiome, circulating endocannabinoids, and lo…
