Exploring the Reactivity and Biological Effects of Heteroleptic N-Heterocyclic Carbene Gold(I)- Alkynyl Complexes

2020

With the aim to explore the effects of different organometallic ligands on the reactivity and biological properties of a series of twelve heteroleptic AuI complexes, of general formula [Au(NHC)(alkynyl)] (NHC = benzimidazolylidene or 1,3-dihydroimidazolylidene) were synthesized and characterized by 1H and 13C NMR and elemental analysis, and in some cases also by X-ray diffraction. The compounds were all stable in H2O/DMSO as established by NMR spectroscopy, while they could react with model thiols (EtSH) in the presence of water to undergo ligand-substitution reactions. 1H NMR experiments showed that dissociation of the more labile alkynyl ligand was possible for all compounds, while in the…

Maladaptive and adaptive emotion regulation through music a behavioral and neuroimaging study of males and females

2015

Music therapists use guided affect regulation in the treatment of mood disorders. However, self-directed uses of music in affect regulation are not fully understood. Some uses of music may have negative effects on mental health, as can non music regulation strategies, such as rumination. Psychological testing and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) were used explore music listening strategies in relation to mental health. Participants (n = 123) were assessed for depression, anxiety and Neuroticism, and uses of Music in Mood Regulation (MMR). Neural responses to music were measured in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) in a subset of participants (n = 56). Discharge, using music to…

Resonance frequency analysis after the placement of 133 dental implants

2006

2000

Purpose To evaluate the efficacy of breath-hold, three-dimensional, contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography with a 1.0 T system for imaging the abdominal vessels in comparison to conventional arteriography (CA). Methods The abdominal aorta and visceral arteries were studied in 54 patients (60 examinations) on a 1.0 T scanner using an ultrafast gadolinium-enhanced gradient-echo sequence with the following parameters: TR/TE = 3.8/1.4 ms, flip angel 25 degrees, matrix 198 x 256, field 380-420 mm, pixel size 1.9 x 1.48 mm2, slice thickness 1.5-2.5 mm, acquisition time 22-26 sec. Individual circulation times were determined by a test bolus before each MR angiography. Conventional arteri…

Assessment of Thoracic Aortic Dimensions in an Experimental Setting: Comparison of Different Unenhanced Magnetic Resonance Angiography Techniques Wit…

2008

PURPOSE To compare different unenhanced magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) techniques for quantitative evaluation of vessel lumen in an experimental setting in young pigs whose dimensions allow for a comparison with a pediatric population. MATERIAL AND METHODS Magnetic resonance imaging was performed in 5 healthy ventilated pigs at 1.5 T. Three different electrocardiogram (ECG)-triggered sequences were applied for MRA: [TSE-Db] T2-weighted dark-blood TurboSpinEcho (2.0 x 1.1 x 4 mm3); [trueFISP] 2D-steady-state-free-precession (2.2 x 1.8 x 2 mm3); [NAV] respiratory-gated, T2-prepared 3D-trueFISP (1.3 x 1.3 x 1.3 mm3). ECG-gated-CT angiography (CTA) (16-row CT, 1 mm collimation) served as …

TAVI imaging: over the echocardiography

2020

Aortic valve stenosis (AS) is a common valvular heart disease. Recently, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has changed the treatment of severe AS in elderly patients with contraindications to traditional surgical replacement. Echocardiography is conventionally used as the first imaging modality to assess the presence and severity of AS and to provide anatomical and functional information. Nowadays, imaging techniques play a crucial role in the planning of TAVI to define suitable candidates. Computed tomography (CT) is essential to display the anatomy of the aortic valve complex (including aortic annulus, Valsalva sinuses, coronary arteries ostia, sinotubular junction), thoracoa…

Valvular Heart Disease

2013

Valvular heart disease (VHD) refers to a wide spectrum of cardiac disorders that affect a large number of patients. Echocardiography is still considered the pivotal imaging method to evaluate the cardiac valves. However, echocardiography has some intrinsic limitations due to operator dependence and patient habitus. In the last two decades three-dimensional techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) have provided valuable assessment of VHD. MRI overcomes the limitation of the poor acoustic window of echocardiography without ionizing radiation. Nowadays, MRI aims to be considered as the reference standard for imaging cardiac valves because of the improved…

Monoterpene derivatives from the flowers of Ferulago campestris, (Apiaceae).

2013

Ferulago campestris (Besser) Grec., (Ferula galbanifera (Mill) Kock. = F. campestris), finocchiazzo, is an annual or perennial herb of the Mediterranean area. In this paper the phytochemical studies of the CH2Cl2 and MeOH extracts of the flowers are described. Several ferulol derivatives and a new 10-hydroxy-verbenone ester (7) were isolated. The structure of the new compound was established by extensive NMR analysis, including HMBC and HSQC pulse sequences.

Noroviral P-Particles as an In Vitro Model to Assess the Interactions of Noroviruses with Probiotics

2014

Noroviruses (NoVs) are the main etiologic agents of acute epidemic gastroenteritis and probiotic bacteria have been reported to exert a positive effect on viral diarrhea. The protruding (P) domain from NoVs VP1 capsid protein has the ability to assemble into the so-called P-particles, which retain the binding ability to host receptors. We purified the P-domains from NoVs genotypes GI.1 and GII.4 as 6X(His)-tagged proteins and determined that, similar to native domains, they were structured into P-particles that were functional in the recognition of the specific glycoconjugated receptors, as established by surface plasmon resonance experiments. We showed that several lactic acid bacteria (pr…
