The conservative intervention on four paintings preserved in the mother church of Partinico, in the province of Palermo, has allowed the recovery and enhancement of an important pictorial patrimony. The intervention, restoring the optimal conditions of the artifacts, has made possible the stylistic interpretation of the paintings, today referred to the environment of Neapolitan naturalism close to the classicist ways of Andrea Vaccaro.

The construction of stone walls in the Sicilian Late Gothic architecture – in use for a period spanning between the 15th and 16th centuries – shows stylistic influences and constructive techniques strongly related to the relationship between the local guilds and those from other parts of the Mediterranean area. A specific Sicilian constructive tradition becomes apparent in the transitional period stretching between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, this being the result of communication between Sicilian and foreign guilds alongside cultural changes and evident stylistic analogies, with Spanish architecture in particular. Many protected areas have been under intensive forest management prior to protection and thus lack natural ecosystem structures and dynamics. Dead wood is a key structure in forests harboring hundreds of threatened species. We investigated the ecological success of dead wood creation as a boreal forest restoration measure. We analysed whether the polypore communities of chain-saw felled and girdled (subsequently fallen) Norway spruce ( (L.) H. The necropolises of the hill town of Centuripe (EN) in Sicily have been looted since the nineteenth century for obtaining objects that were attractive for antiquities collectors, such as Hellenistic terracotta figurines and the brightly polychrome vases produced by local artisans (known as “Centuripe vases”) that today are scattered throughout a number of museums and private collections over the world.
