Advanced RDB-to-RDF/OWL Mapping Facilities in RDB2OWL
2011
We present advanced features of RDB2OWL mapping specification language that allows expressing RDB-to-RDF/OWL mappings in a concise and human comprehensible way. The RDB2OWL mappings can be regarded as documentation of the database-to-ontology relation. The RDB2OWL language uses the OWL ontology structure as a backbone for mapping specification by placing the database link information into the annotations for ontology classes and properties. Its features include reuse of database table key information, user defined scalar and aggregate functions, table-based functions and multiclass conceptualization that is essential to keep mappings compact in case when large tables are mapped onto several…
SHREC 2020: Retrieval of digital surfaces with similar geometric reliefs
2020
Abstract This paper presents the methods that have participated in the SHREC’20 contest on retrieval of surface patches with similar geometric reliefs and the analysis of their performance over the benchmark created for this challenge. The goal of the context is to verify the possibility of retrieving 3D models only based on the reliefs that are present on their surface and to compare methods that are suitable for this task. This problem is related to many real world applications, such as the classification of cultural heritage goods or the analysis of different materials. To address this challenge, it is necessary to characterize the local ”geometric pattern” information, possibly forgetti…
Novel Indexing Method of Relations Between Salient Objects
2011
Since the last decade, images have been integrated into several application domains such as GIS, medicine, etc. This integration necessitates new managing methods particularly in image retrieval. Queries should be formulated using different types of features such as low-level features of images (histograms, color distribution, etc.), spatial and temporal relations between salient objects, semantic features, etc. In this chapter, we propose a novel method for identifying and indexing several types of relations between salient objects. Spatial relations are used here to show how our method can provide high expressive power to relations in comparison to the traditional methods.
Proposal for Using a Standardized Terminology on Oxygen Transport to Tissue
1985
The aim of the present proposal is to recommend some definitions of important and frequently used terms in the field of oxygen transport to tissue. The latest glossary on this topic is dated 1973 and was published by the International Union of Physiological Sciences (J. Appl. Physiol. 34, 549 – 558, 1973). In the meantime, some of these definitions are either outdated or are used in another sense.

Searching Silk Fabrics by Images Leveraging on Knowledge Graph and Domain Expert Rules
2021
The production of European silk textile is an endangered intangible cultural heritage. Digital tools can nowadays be developed to help preserving it, or even to make it more accessible for the public and the fashion industry. In this paper, we propose an image-based retrieval tool that leverages on a knowledge graph describing the silk textile production as well as rules formulated by experts of this domain. Out of several possible similarity scenarios, two have proven to work best and have been integrated into an exploratory search engine.
Towards a natural language-based interface for querying hospital data
2018
There is a growing necessity in various domains for non-programmers to be able to retrieve information gathered about the operation of the organization and stored in its databases. This information could hugely benefit the decision making process of the managers of the institution, but it is not often exploited due to the complexity of extracting the information from the existing data. In this paper we sketch a way how that information could be managed by the domain experts themselves by the means of a natural language-based query language that works upon data stored in the ontology. Our experiments show that the proposed approach is indeed easy-to-use by our target end-users - managers and…
An Improved Decision System for URL Accesses Based on a Rough Feature Selection Technique
2015
Corporate security is usually one of the matters in which companies invest more resources, since the loss of information directly translates into monetary losses. Security issues might have an origin in external attacks or internal security failures, but an important part of the security breaches is related to the lack of awareness that the employees have with regard to the use of the Web. In this work we have focused on the latter problem, describing the improvements to a system able to detect anomalous and potentially insecure situations that could be dangerous for a company. This system was initially conceived as a better alternative to what are known as black/white lists. These lists co…
A Semantic Collaborative Clustering Approach Based on Confusion Matrix
2019
In this paper we discuss about a new images retrieval technique based on clustering. We argue that images don’t have an intrinsic meaning, but they can receive different interpretation. These images can complicate documents retrieval. However, users need a quick and direct access to documents. To answer this requirement, we propose a retrieval approach which use a collaborative clustering technique based on Confusion matrix.
