Interaction between turbulent structures and particles in roughened channel

Abstract The distribution of inertial particles in turbulent flows is highly non-uniform and is driven by the local dynamics of the turbulent structures of the underlying carrier flow field. In the specific context of dilute particle-laden wall-bounded flows, deposition and resuspension mechanisms are dominated by the interaction between inertial particles and coherent turbulent structures characteristic of the wall region. The macroscopic behavior of these two-phase systems is influenced by particle inertia, which plays a role at the microscale of a single dispersed element. Upes nēģa Lampetra fluviatilis populāciju ģenētiskās daudzveidības izpēte ar mikrosatelītiem

Šis bakalaura darbs ir turpinājums kursa darbam - “Kurzemes upēs sastopamo upes nēģu Lampetra fluviatilis mikrosatelītu genotipēšana”. Šis ir pirmais pētījums Latvijā par upes nēģa ģenētisko daudzveidību un populācijas ģenētisko struktūru Latvijas upēs, pamatojoties uz mikrosatelītu DNS variācijām. Darba mērķis bija novērtēt upes nēģa populācijas ģenētisko daudzveidību Latvijā. Iegūtie dati veicinās zināšanas par upes nēģu ģenētisko struktūru un palīdzēs izstrādāt ieteikumus ģenētisko resursu ilgtspējīgai apsaimniekošanai. No piecām upēm (Saka, Venta, Daugava, Salaca, Gauja) kopā tika ievākti 210 upes nēģa audu paraugi no muguras spurām, no kuriem tika izdalīta DNS. Genotipēšana tika veikta…

Abstract Sediments conveyed from interrill areas to rills are transported by a thin flow (overland flow) and the knowledge of overland flow resistance is useful to evaluate overland flow velocity and sediment transport capacity. The aim of this paper was to verify the applicability of a theoretical overland flow resistance law, based on a power-velocity distribution, using field measurements for four upland grassland types used in different management strategies (Hay Meadows, Low-density Grazing, Rushes and Rank Grassland). Treatment-resistant auditory verbal hallucinations (TRAVH) are a relatively prevalent and devastating symptom in patients with schizophrenia (SCZ). Even though their pathological mechanisms are poorly understood, they seem to differ from those underlying non-hallucinating SCZ.& nbsp; In this study, we characterise structural brain changes in SCZ patients with TRAVH.
