Pułkownik Zbigniew Jacorzyński to postać wybitnie zasłużona dla polskiego pożarnictwa. Urodził się 8 sierpnia 1921 roku w Cieszynie. Był synem oficera Wojska Polskiego. This article presents the hitherto undescribed relationship between humans and cows in Władysław Reymont's The Peasants. The tropes used by Reymont, especially the personifications of naturę in the Young Poland style, do not include the world of animals. However, the totality of Reymont's world lies in the blurring of distinctive boundaries between species and their subsequent restoration in an anthropocentric order. Testing for Lynch Syndrome in Endometrial Carcinoma: From Universal to Age-Selective MLH1 Methylation Analysis

Simple Summary International guidelines recommend universal screening of endometrial carcinoma patients for Lynch syndrome, a hereditary cancer predisposition syndrome. Screening is based on mismatch repair protein immunohistochemistry and reflex MLH1 methylation analysis to exclude the likely sporadic cases of MMR deficiency. As sporadic MLH1 protein loss is common in endometrial carcinoma, the ability to target methylation testing would save efforts and costs. We investigated the associations of genetic risk score (GRS) for Alzheimer’s disease and apolipoprotein E (APOE) ɛ variant with cardiometabolic risk factors during 2-year follow-up in children and whether body fat percentage (BF%) modify these associations. A population-based sample of 469 children (246 boys, 223 girls) at baseline and 398 children (201 boys, 197 girls) at 2-year follow-up participated in the study. Lynch syndrome (LS) is the most common inherited cancer syndrome. It is inherited via a monoallelic germline variant in one of the DNA mismatch repair (MMR) genes. LS carriers have a broad 30-80% risk of developing various malignancies, and more precise, individual risk estimations would be of high clinical value, allowing tailored cancer prevention and surveillance. To devise effective conservation actions, it is important to know which factors are associated with the population parameters of a declining population. Using mark–recapture methods, we estimated the annual population size, growth rate and survival probability of an ear-tagged flying squirrel population over a 15-year period in a 4,500 ha study area in western Finland. The species is considered vulnerable, but detailed knowledge concerning population sizes or trends is lacking.
