Materiał badawczy stanowiły szczepy T. viride 21 i T. viride 56 wyizolowane metodą selekcyjną z powierzchni technologicznej zakładu produkującego żywność. Stosowany do dezynfekcji linii technologicznej Divosan Forte (DF) testowano w przeliczeniu na czysty kwas nad…

Epizootiology of protozoans in farmed salmonids at northern latitudes
1997
Abstract Protozoan ectoparasites were examined in a northern salmonid fish farm over a 10-year period, June 1984–May 1994, by the same researcher, with similar catching and sampling procedures throughout. Husbandry procedures remained constant during the study, e.g., fingerlings were kept in steel tanks and yearlings in both steel tanks and earth ponds. Ichthyobodo necator, Chilodonella hexasticha and Ichthyophthirius multifilurs infections were treated with formalin, salt and malachite green-formalin baths, respectively, whenever any parasites were found. Altogether 10 790 randomly sampled salmon (Salmo solar), sea trout (S. trutta m. trutta) and brown trout (S. trutta m. lacustris) were s…

Compressibility and phase stability of iron-rich ankerite
2021
ABSTRACT: The structure of the naturally occurring, iron-rich mineral Ca₁․₀₈(₆)Mg₀.₂₄(₂)Fe₀.₆₄(₄)Mn₀.₆₄(₄)(CO₃)₂ ankerite was studied in a joint experimental and computational study. Synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction measurements up to 20 GPa were complemented by density functional theory calculations. The rhombohedral ankerite structure is stable under compression up to 12 GPa. A third-order Birch-Murnaghan equation of state yields V₀ = 328.2(3) ų, bulk modulus B₀ = 89(4) GPa, and its first-pressure derivative B'₀ = 5.3(8)-values which are in good agreement with those obtained in our calculations for an ideal CaFe(CO₃)₂ ankerite composition. At 12 GPa, the iron-rich ankerite structure …
Construction and expression of a dual vector for chemo-enzymatic synthesis of plant indole alkaloids inEscherichia coli
2010
A dual vector (pQE-70-STR1-SG) containing coding regions of strictosidine synthase (STR1, EC 4.3.3.2) and strictosidine glucosidase (SG, EC 3.2.1.105) from the Indian medicinal plant Rauvolfia serpentina was constructed. Functional expression of the vector in Escherichia coli cells (M15 strain) was proven by isolation of prepurified enzyme extracts, which show both STR1 and SG activities. Incubation of the enzyme in the presence of tryptamine and secologanin delivered the indole alkaloid cathenamine, demonstrating functional co-expression of both STR1- and SG-cDNAs. Cathenamine reduction by sodium borohydride leading to tetrahydroalstonine revealed the chemo-enzymatic indole alkaloid synthe…
Suspended particulate matter fluxes along with their associated metals, organic matter and carbonates in a coastal Mediterranean area affected by min…
2016
International audience; A study of suspended particulate matter (SPM) fluxes along with their associated metals, organic matter and carbonates, was conducted off the Mejerda River outlet in May 2011 and in March and July 2012 at depths of 10, 20 and 40 m using sediment traps. SPM fluxes are more significant near the Mejerda outlet, especially in winter, but dissipate further offshore. Normalization reveals that the Mejerda is a major source of Pb, Zn, Cd, Cu, Ni, and Co, all of which are the result of human activities. In contrast, Fe, Mn and N are of authigenic origin. The enrichment factor shows that Pb, Zn and especially Cd are the most highly polluting metals off the Mejerda outlet. Thi…
Simulation of the Propagation of Tsunamis in Coastal Regions by a Two-Dimensional Non-Hydrostatic Shallow Water Solver
2017
Due to the enormous damages and losses of human lives in the inundated regions, the simulation of the propagation of tsunamis in coastal areas has received an increasing interest of the researchers. We present a 2D depth-integrated, non- hydrostatic shallow waters solver to simulate the propagation of tsunamis, solitary waves and surges in coastal regions. We write the governing continuity and momentum equations in conservative form and discretize the domain with unstructured triangular Generalized Delaunay meshes. We apply a fractional- time-step procedure, where two problems (steps) are consecutively solved. In the first and in the second step, we hypothesize a hydrostatic and a non-hydro…
Examination of Escherichia coli from poultry for selected adhesin genes important in disease caused by mammalian pathogenic E. coli
2001
A collection of 1601 extraintestinal and intestinal Escherichia coli isolated from chickens, turkeys and ducks, in Belgium, France and Spain, was hybridised with gene probes specific for fimbrial and afimbrial adhesins (F17, F18, SSfa/F1C, Bfp, Afa, Cs31A, IntiminEae, Aida-1) of intestinal, urinary and invasive E. coli of mammals and with a probe specific for the P (Pap/Prs) fimbrial adhesin of urinary and invasive E. coli of mammals and birds. Three hundred and eighty-three strains (23.9%) were P-positive, 76 strains (4.8%) were Afa-positive, 75 strains (4.7%) were F17-positive, 67 strains (4.2%) were S-positive, 23 (1.4%) were Intimin-positive, and all were F18-, Cs31A-, Aida1- and Bfp-ne…
Spatial Representation of Plant Diversity at Geographical Scale: The Italian Experience
2021
The first attempts to draw up plant biodiversity maps in Italy are identified, some of which represent re-workings of data collected for chorological atlases of geographic areas of different extents. These were based particularly on the UTM grid, introduced and codified in Italy by Pignatti [6]. The limited examples made in Italy concern regional, provincial or district areas, some also in protected natural areas. As examples considered original, the maps developed at the Phytotaxonomy and Phytogeography Laboratory of the University of Palermo are presented. These involve the province of Palermo, the Madonie Natural Park in Palermo province, and the eastern Sicani mountains. The map of this…
