Análisis tiempo-frecuencia de la fibrilación ventricular. Estudio experimental

2006

Introduction and objectives. The analysis of frequency variability during ventricular fibrillation has yielded inconsistent results. We used an experimental model of ventricular fibrillation, with a short timescale, to analyze variations in frequency and their associated spatial distribution. Methods. Epicardial recordings of ventricular fibrillation were made in 10 perfused isolated rabbit heart preparations using a multiple electrode system (i.e., 240 unipolar electrodes). Both spectral and time-frequency analysis were used to derive the dominant frequency in the anterolateral wall of the left ventricle. Results. Linear regression analysis showed that there was a good correlation between …

Selective Formation of S4- and T-Symmetric Supramolecular Tetrahedral Cages and Helicates in Polar Media Assembled via Cooperative Action of Coordina…

2020

We report on the synthesis and self-assembly study of novel supramolecular monomers encompassing quadruple hydrogen-bonding motifs and metal-coordinating 2,2'-bipyridine units. When mixed with metal ions such as Fe2+ or Zn2+, the tetrahedron cage complexes are formed in quantitative yields and full diastereoselectivity, even in highly polar acetonitrile or methanol solvents. The symmetry of the complexes obtained has been shown to depend critically on the flexibility of the ligand. Restriction of the rotation of the hydrogen-bonding unit with respect to the metal-coordinating site results in a T-symmetric cage, whereas introducing flexibility either through a methylene linker or rotating be…

Biowaiver Monographs for Immediate-Release Solid Oral Dosage Forms: Enalapril

2018

Literature data relevant to the decision to allow a waiver of in vivo bioequivalence testing for the marketing authorization of immediate-release, solid oral dosage forms containing enalapril maleate are reviewed. Enalapril, a prodrug, is hydrolyzed by carboxylesterases to the active angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor enalaprilat. Enalapril as the maleate salt is shown to be highly soluble, but only 60%-70% of an orally administered dose of enalapril is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract into the enterocytes. Consequently, enalapril maleate is a Biopharmaceutics Classification System class III substance. Because in situ conversion of the maleate salt to the sodium salt is sometim…

Contribution of Morphometrics to the Systematics of the Ordovician GenusNeseuretus(Calymenidae, Trilobita) from the Armorican Massif, France

2013

The genusNeseuretusHicks, 1873 is the most abundant trilobite of the Ordovician siltite succession of the Andouillé and Traveusot Formations in the French Armorican massif. The systematics of some species ofNeseuretusis still unclear. Armorican and Iberian domains formed part of a distinctive paleobiogeographical province in the Ordovician and, while fiveNeseuretusspecies were defined in Iberia that follow each other through time, from the Middle to the Upper Ordovician, only oneNeseuretusspecies,N. tristani, has been identified in the Armorican massif so far. The discovery of new fossil deposits in the Ménez-Belair syncline has led to the identification and re-description of threeNeseuretu…

Differential toxicity of simazine and diuron to Torilis arvensis and Lolium rigidum

1990

Summary: In a soil application, Torilis arvensis was nearly as susceptible as Lolium rigidum to simazine but was 18-fold more tolerant to diuron. Treat ment with diuron inhibited photosynthesis in L. rigidum but had only a limited effect in T. arvensis although chloroplasts isolated from both species displayed similar susceptibility. 14C-diuron degradation in plants was limited, with the formation of conjugates of mono-methyl-diuron in T. arvensis and N-dealkylated derivatives of diuron in L. rigidum. 14C-diuron entered the roots and was translocated throughout the leaves of L. rigidum but was restricted to stems, leaf petioles and leaf veins of T. arvensis. This difference in transport pat…

Demonstration of polarization pulling in a fiber-optical parametric amplifier

2012

International audience; We report the experimental demonstration of all-optical polarization pulling of an initially polarization-scrambled signal using a fiber-optical parametric amplifier. Nonlinear polarization pulling has been achieved for both the signal and idler with 25 dB gain.

Permanent left atrial pacing therapy may improve symptoms in heart failure patients with preserved ejection fraction and atrial dyssynchrony: a pilot…

2012

Aims Our group has recently shown that in some patients, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFPEF) may be explained by ‘atrial dyssynchrony syndrome’ (ADS) due to interatrial conduction delay (IACD), a short left atrioventricular interval (LAVI), and increased left atrial (LA) stiffness. Our primary objective was to evaluate LA pacing therapy as a new treatment to restore left ventricular active filling in patients with no other known causes for HF than ADS. Methods and results Six patients with severe HFPEF with IACD (P wave duration >120 ms in lead II), short LAVI during electrophysiological studies ( 15), and no standard indication for a pacemaker were implanted with a lead …

Protective Effects of L- and D-Carnosine on R-Crystallin Amyloid Fibril Formation: Implications for Cataract Disease

2009

Mildly denaturing conditions induce bovine ?-crystallin, the major structural lens protein, to self-assemble into fibrillar structures in vitro. The natural dipeptide L-carnosine has been shown to have potential protective and therapeutic significance in many diseases. Carnosine derivatives have been proposed as potent agents for ophthalmic therapies of senile cataracts and diabetic ocular complications. Here we report the inhibitory effect induced by the peptide (L- and D-enantiomeric form) on ?-crystallin fibrillation and the almost complete restoration of the chaperone activity lost after denaturant and/or heat stress. Scanning force microscopy (SFM), thioflavin T, and a turbidimetry ass…

The drawings of the telamones, the giant statues placed the front of the Temple of Zeus in the archaeological area of Agrigento, have fascinated some of the most famous neoclassical architects in Europe. The virtual reconstruction of one intercolumnial of the Temple, based both on the range-based survey of…
