The present study discusses the development of the orthographical system of the language of the Bačka and Srem Ruthenians, in the Voyvodina region of the former Yugoslavia. In the early 20th century H. Kostel’nyk developed an orthographical system, based on Ukrainian Cyrillic. How- ever, after the Second World War there was an attempt to reform orthog- raphy, which clearly reflected the new political climate. This reform was promoted by J. Bakov and pro-government circles of Rusyns. The aim of the paper is to analyse the reasons for this reform proposal and its failure.

This study focuses on the entrepreneurial longevity of a family business by observing an old sawmill. The activities within the firm are influenced by the change in the Finnish Society during the 20th century and the decline of the village community. The challenge for surviving at the periphery and maintaining operations in a single family over generations is cultural knowledge. Ethnographic approach through thick descriptions provides a chance to follow the change in everyday customs and interpret its meanings, and these are evaluated using critical methodology. Testing assumptions and procedures to empirically predict bare plot soil loss in a Mediterranean environment

Empirical prediction of soil erosion has both scientific and practical importance. This investigation tested USLE and USLE-based procedures to predict bare plot soil loss at the Sparacia area, in Sicily. Event soil loss per unit area, Ae, did not vary appreciably with plot length, l, because the decrease in runoff with l was offset by an increase in sediment concentration. Slope steepness, s, had a positive effective on Ae and this result was associated with a runoff coefficient that did not vary appreciably with s and a sediment concentration generally increasing with s. The bridge des Grilles de la Basse-Seille is one of the last vestiges of the medieval fortification in Metz. It is one of rare examples of fortified bridge in France. Built in the end of the 14th century, it is backfilled in 1911 and only its upper section is visible. An archaeological and historic study was made in 2011 to understand the configuration and the functioning of the bridge in the Middle Ages.

The aim of this paper is to present and explore one of the most fundamental concepts of postmodernity, that is, Jean Baudrillard’s elaboration of the ideas of hyperreality and simulacrum that characterise today’s global consumer culture in which the image of the product is more significant that the product itself. Some attention has also been devoted to European postmodernism, Jean-François Lyotard’s concept of the postmodern articulated in his renown book, The Postmodern Condition, in particular, and the merging of high and popular cultures to form consumer culture of late capitalism.

Kā rezultātā tā ietekmē morbiditāti, mortalitāti, kā arī palielina finansiālas izmaksas. Pētījuma mērķis ir uzzināt vai ir korelācija starp veiktiem pirms operācijas standarta izmeklējuma rezultātiem un pēcoperācijas ātriju fibrilāciju. Background The ameloblastoma management is still challenging to the high recurrence rates and significant morbidity associated with radical treatment. The purpose of this 10-year retrospective study was to analyze the influence of ameloblastoma type and treatment strategy on the long-term outcomes and recurrence rates.
