Kriminālprocess Eiropas Prokuratūrā

2021

Bakalaura darba “Kriminālprocess Eiropas Prokuratūrā” mērķis ir izprast Eiropas Prokuratūras būtību, struktūru un kompetenci, sagaidāmo kriminālprocesa norisi tajā, kā arī iespējamās problēmsituācijas Eiropas Prokuratūras darbībā tieši Latvijā. Pētījuma gaitā pamatots, ka Eiropas Prokuratūras darbībā kā tādā ir paredzami daudzi izaicinājumi, bet tieši Latvijā dažādu juridisku sarežģījumu varētu būt vēl vairāk, jo likumprojekts “Grozījumi Kriminālprocesa likumā”, kurš izstrādāts, lai nodrošinātu normatīvā regulējuma atbilstību Padomes 2017. gada 12. oktobra regulai (ES) 2017/1939, ar ko īsteno ciešāku sadarbību Eiropas Prokuratūras (EPPO) izveidei, autoresprāt, nav sasniedzis mērķi Kriminālp…

Eitanāzijas kriminalizācija kā cilvēktiesību aizskārums Eiropā

2015

Bakalaura darbs „Eitanāzijas kriminalizācija kā cilvēktiesību aizskārums Eiropā” ir uzrakstīts 2015. gadā Latvijas Universitātes Juridiskās fakultātes Starptautisko un Eiropas tiesību zinātņu katedrā. Darbs sastāv no piecām nodaļām.

Effects of pulsed electromagnetic fields on cognitive processes - a pilot study on pulsed field interference with cognitive regeneration.

2004

Background – Due to the ubiquitous use of cellular phones much has been speculated on secondary effects of electromagnetic irradiation emitted by those. Additionally, several studies have reported vegetative alterations as well as effects on the neuronal and molecular levels in humans. Here, using a psycho–physiological test paradigm, we examined effects of exposure to pulsed electromagnetic fields on cognitive performance. Materials and methods – In 11 volunteers, we tested cognitive processing under field exposure (GSM standard) and under field-free conditions. To examine the hypothesized effect of pulsed fields, we applied an auditory discrimination task and determined the participant's …

Polish emigrants in Düsseldorf The migrants’ heritage of identity and entry into German society

2019

Cechy najbardziej ją różnicujące w poglądach to miejsce dorastania i czas wyjazdu z Polski. Migranci z obszaru Śląska (historyczne pogranicze etniczno-kulturowe) łatwiej adaptują się do…

Myths of Primitiveness: A Barthean Interpretation of Rhetorical Devices in Early Jazz Criticism

2013

Ever since jazz began to make an impact in white aesthetic culture in the late 1910s and 1920s, critics, regardless of whether they celebrated or condemned the music, enmeshed their discourse with images of exoticism, noble savageness, and racial brutishness. As Jazz Studies emerged as an academic discipline, scholars have shown increasing interest in exposing these images in order to illustrate the pervading racist sentiment inscribed within white perception of the jazz idiom and also to establish the connections between jazz and the modernist obsession with primitivism. The aim of this paper is to contribute further study to the intricacies of primitivism through a close examination of th…

Work-related and personal predictors of COVID-19 transmission: evidence from the UK and USA

2021

ObjectiveTo develop evidence of work-related and personal predictors of COVID-19 transmission.Setting and respondentsData are drawn from a population survey of individuals in the USA and UK conducted in June 2020.Background methodsRegression models are estimated for 1467 individuals in which reported evidence of infection depends on work-related factors as well as a variety of personal controls.ResultsThe following themes emerge from the analysis. First, a range of work-related factors are significant sources of variation in COVID-19 infection as indicated by self-reports of medical diagnosis or symptoms. This includes evidence about workplace types, consultation about safety and union memb…

Spanish Validation of the Leader Empowering Behavior Questionnaire (LEBQ)

2019

The concept of empowering leadership has attracted widespread academic and practical interest and different questionnaires have been developed to measure it. However, there are no instruments to measure empowering leadership in the Spanish language. This article presents the translation, adaptation, and validation of a scale to measure this construct. In addition, it analyzes the relationship between managers’ empowering leadership and employees’ job satisfaction. In turn, the study analyzes whether employees who participate in a greater number of continuous improvement programs have supervisors who favor more empowering behaviors. A total of 739 participants with various occupations from d…

New Procedures of Pattern Classification for Vibration-Based Diagnostics via Neural Network

2014

In this paper, the new distance-based embedding procedures of pattern classification for vibration-based diagnostics of gas turbine engines via neural network are proposed. Diagnostics of gas turbine engines is important because of the high cost of engine failure and the possible loss of human life. Engine monitoring is performed using either ‘on-line’ systems, mounted within the aircraft, that perform analysis of engine data during flight, or ‘off-line’ ground-based systems, to which engine data is downloaded from the aircraft at the end of a flight. Typically, the health of a rotating system such as a gas turbine is manifested by its vibration level. Efficiency of gas turbine monitoring s…
