International Opportunity Recognition among Small and Medium-Sized Family Firms*
2011
Current research in the field of entrepreneurship emphasizes the importance of opportunity recognition as a key element in the entrepreneurial process. It has been recognized that network ties, act...
Conceptualizing a Framework: A Critical Review of the Development of Change Management Theories
2020
Abstract Although approaches to manage change dated back to as early as human history, managing effective change is still the topic of today’s debates. One of the undeniable facts about this is that change per se keeps changing, and so does its management methodology. While this fact comes, on the one hand, to validate the reason why none of the early theories stands relevant across time, it, on the other hand, proofs that change methodology is certainly fluid, giving no room for an approach to really last. An effective change is achievable [not] by a prescription, but by a thorough consolidation of the various aspects relevant to change. This paper aims therefore at identifying those [mana…

Conical nanopores highlight the pro-aggregating effects of pyrimethanil fungicide on Aβ(1-42) peptides and dimeric splitting phenomena.
2022
International audience; The Aβ(1-42) aggregation is a key event in the physiopathology of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Exogenous factors such as environmental pollutants, and more particularly pesticides, can corrupt Aβ(1-42) assembly and could influence the occurrence and pathophysiology of AD. However, pesticide involvement in the early stages of Aβ(1-42) aggregation is still unknown. Here, we employed conical track-etched nanopore in order to analyse the Aβ(1-42) fibril formation in the presence of pyrimethanil, a widely used fungicide belonging to the anilinopyrimidine class. Our results evidenced a pro-aggregating effect of pyrimethanil on Aβ(1-42). Aβ(1-42) assemblies were successfully d…
Specific detection of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers in phytoplankton DNA by a non-radioactive assay based on T4-endonuclease V digestion.
2001
The effect of artificial and natural UV irradiation on DNA in marine phytoplankton Isochrysis galbana monoculture was investigated. The presence of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs) in unlabelled I. galbana DNA was detected by a non-radiometric alkaline filter elution assay after T4-endonuclease V digestion. The quantity of CPDs was estimated by alkaline agarose gel electrophoresis. Precise determination of the amount of DNA in the presence of I. galbana pigments was achieved by oxazole yellow homodimer (YOYO) dye. T4-endonuclease V-sensitive sites frequency (ESS/kb), measured after exposure to 2-40 kJ m(-2) of artificial UV light, increased in a dose-dependent manner. Twelve hours after…
Previous fire occurrence, but not fire recurrence, modulates the effect of charcoal and ash on soil C and N dynamics in Pinus pinaster Aiton forests.
2021
Abstract Understanding the effects of fire history on soil processes is key to characterise their resistance and resilience under future fire events. Wildfires produce pyrogenic carbonaceous material (PCM) that is incorporated into the soil, playing a critical role in the global carbon (C) cycle, but its interactions with soil processes are poorly understood. We evaluated if the previous occurrence of wildfires modulates the dynamic of soil C and nitrogen (N) and microbial community by soil ester linked fatty acids, after a new simulated low-medium intensity fire. Soils with a different fire history (none, one, two or three fires) were heat-shocked and amended with charcoal and/or ash deriv…
Nutri-priming as an efficient means to improve the agronomic performance of molybdenum in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.).
2019
International audience; Microelements play important roles in improving crop productivity and quality. Two traditional methods of providing micronutrients are soil and foliar application, yet the cost involved and phytotoxicity risks poses a major challenge in most global agricultural areas. Nutri-priming represents thus a very promising and viable alternative to ensure that the plants' requirements for micronutrients are met. This paper explores the Mo-priming effects on the germination, growth and yield components of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.). In order to accomplishthis research objective, our study is divided in two phases. The first phase seeks to determine the effects of two …
Immunoreagent generation and competitive assay development for cyprodinil analysis.
2012
Cyprodinil is an anilinopyrimidine fungicide applied worldwide for the prevention and treatment of highly destructive plant diseases in a large variety of crops, including cereals, fruits, and vegetables. This paper describes the development of the first reported immunoassays for cyprodinil. Two original haptens have been synthesized and conjugated to different carrier proteins, and polyclonal antibodies have been produced. Moreover, competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays have been developed and characterized for the analysis of this widely used pesticide. The influence of organic solvents and buffer conditions over the assay analytical parameters was studied. The IC 50 values of th…
Up-to-date monitoring of childhood cancer long-term survival in Europe: central nervous system tumours.
2007
ABSTRACT Background Tumours of the central nervous system (CNS) account for 15–20% of all malignant childhood tumours in developed countries. Steady improvement of survival of children with CNS tumours has been reported for the past decades. However, these results, obtained by cohort analysis of survival, do not reflect the full extent of recent improvement. Methods Using selected registries from the database of the Automated Childhood Cancer Information System (ACCIS), we calculated period survival estimates for the years 1995–99 for children diagnosed with a malignant CNS tumour. Results The overall 10-year period survival estimate for the years 1995–99 was 59% for children with all CNS t…
