This article relates loneliness to interaction ritual theory, understanding loneliness in terms of problematic microinteractional dynamics. The advantage of interaction ritual theory is that it extends our understanding of the issue of the psychologised self and related questions such as how loneliness feels or is experienced. Loneliness is here defined as a response to interaction representing relational understanding of emotions. The aim of this paper is to study how the processes of spatial and identity recomposition brought about by a globalized world affect traditional religious rituals, with particular reference to the <i>Semana Santa Marinera</i> processions in Valencia (Spain). Instead of the ritual giving rise to a single local identity, it can be seen that levels of local identity —while not disappearing— overlap more and more with increasingly vague new territorialities ranging from processional networks based on canon law to state-organized meetings. Este artículo es un resumen del capítulo «El mundo enigmático de las beatas», incluido en mi tesis doctoral inédita «La Espiritualidad Valenciana. El lluminismo en los siglos XVI y XVII», dirigida por el Prof. Antonio Mestre y leída en la Universidad de Valencia el 31 de enero de 1989. En Valencia, a lo largo del siglo XVI, existían ejemplos de mujeres que, bien en sus casas solas o en comunidad con otras, emparedadas o no, dedicaban el resto de sus días a la religión. A estas conocemos con el nombre de beatas, fenómeno social de indudable interés en la espiritualidad valenciana del siglo XVII.
Chemical analysis and antioxidant activity of the essential oils of three Piperaceae species growing in the central region of Cuba.

The present study describes the phytochemical profile and antioxidant activity of the essential oils of three Piperaceae species collected in the central region of Cuba. The essential oils of Piper aduncum, P. auritum and P. umbellatum leaves, obtained by hydrodistillation, were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The main components of P. aduncum oil were piperitone (34%), camphor (17.1%), camphene (10.9%), 1,8-cineol (8.7%) and viridiflorol (7.4%), whereas that of P. auritum and P. umbellatum was safrole (71.8 and 26.4%, respectively). Relationship between lower limb neuromuscular performance and bone strength in postmenopausal women with mild knee osteoarthritis.

Objectives: To investigate whether neuromuscular performance predicts lower limb bone strength in different lower limb sites in postmenopausal women with mild knee osteoarthritis (OA). Methods: Neuromuscular performance of 139 volunteer women aged 50-68 with mild knee OA was measured using maximal counter movement jump test, isometric knee flexion and extension force and figure-of-eight-running test. Femoral neck section modulus (Z, mm³) was determined by data obtained from dualenergy X-ray absorptiometry. International audience; Collective dance improvisation (e.g., traditional and social dancing, contact improvisation) is a participatory, relational and embodied art form which eschews standard concepts in aesthetics. We present our ongoing research into the mechanisms underlying the lived experience of "togetherness" associated with such practices. Togetherness in collective dance improvisation is kinaesthetic (based on movement and its perception), and so can be simultaneously addressed from the perspective of the performers and the spectators, and be measured. Reklāmu attēlošana lietotājiem, kuri izmanto reklāmu bloķētājus

Iepriekš veiktā pētījumā ir secināts, ka 47% no Latvijā dzīvojošiem respondentiem izmanto kādu reklāmu bloķētāju, tādēļ šī darba mērķis ir apkopot un izpētīt reklāmu bloķētāju darbības galvenos principus un vispārējo sistēmu ar nolūku apiet to uzliktos ierobežojumus. Darba ietvaros tika pētīts, kā tiek attēlotas reklāmas un kā reklāmu bloķētāji tās atpazīst un neattēlot lietotājiem. Tika apskatīti dažādi eksistējoši risinājumi, kuri ļauj attēlot reklāmas lietotājiem ar reklāmu bloķētāju. Apskatot eksistējošos risinājumus un to priekšrocības un trūkumus, tika aprakstīts un daļēji izstrādāts piedāvātais risinājums, kurš attēlo reklāmas iespējami vairāk lietotājiem.
