Świętosław Orzelski (1549–1598), Starost of Radziejów, actively participated in the political life of the noblemen’s Republic of Poland as a parliamentary activist and Member of Parliament. As a deputy he participated in 13 sessions of Parliament, including 6 sessions during the rule of Stefan Batory and 7 ones in the reign of Sigismund III Vasa. He was a talented politician, continuing the best traditions of the execution faction. As one of the seniors of the Augsburg denomination, he belonged to the group of leaders in the fight for religious tolerance. Maģistra darba ietvaros tiks pētīta polifenolu grupu interkalācija mālu struktūrā un veikta iegūtā organokompleksa fizikāli ķīmisko īpašību izpēte inovatīvu un videi draudzīgu materiālu izstrādē bioekonomikas attīstībai. Pētījuma ietvaros izvēlēti rūpnieciski ražoti māla minerāli un smektīta tipa Latvijas un Lietuvas dabiskie mālieži, kas apstrādāti ar polifenolu savienojumiem no melnaugļu aroniju (Aronia melanocarpa L.), lielogu dzērveņu (Vaccinium macrocarpon), plūškoka (Sambucus nigra) un vīnogu (Vitis vinifera) izspiednēm. Monte Karlo simulācijas tuvajā infrasarkanajā spektra diapazonā ādas mitruma novērtējumam

Šajā darbā tika pētītas iespējas noteikt ādas mitrumu ar inversās Monte Karlo metodes palīdzību. Ūdens absorbcijas spektrs tuvajā infrasarkanajā spektra diapazonā (900 nm – 1700 nm) ir ar izteiktiem maksimumiem un minimumiem, tāpēc šis spektra diapazons varētu tikt izmantots ūdens tilpuma daļas novērtējumam ādā ar optiskām metodēm. Tika izveidoti trīs dažādi ādas modeļi, ar kuriem tika veiktas Monte Karlo simulācijas un pārbaudīta optisko parametru izmaiņu ietekme uz spektra intensitāti un formu. Uniform rectifiability and ε-approximability of harmonic functions in Lp

Suppose that E⊂Rn+1 is a uniformly rectifiable set of codimension 1. We show that every harmonic function is ε-approximable in Lp(Ω) for every p∈(1,∞), where Ω:=Rn+1∖E. Together with results of many authors this shows that pointwise, L∞ and Lp type ε-approximability properties of harmonic functions are all equivalent and they characterize uniform rectifiability for codimension 1 Ahlfors–David regular sets. Our results and techniques are generalizations of recent works of T. Hytönen and A. Rosén and the first author, J. M. Martell and S. Mayboroda. peerReviewed

Search for the Decay of the Higgs Boson to Charm Quarks with the ATLAS Experiment

A direct search for the standard model Higgs boson decaying to a pair of charm quarks is presented. Associated production of the Higgs and Z bosons, in the decay mode ZH→ℓ+ℓ−c¯c is studied. A data set with an integrated luminosity of 36.1  fb−1 of pp collisions at √s=13TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC is used. The H→c¯c signature is identified using charm-tagging algorithms. The observed (expected) upper limit on σ(pp→ZH)×B(H→c¯c) is 2.7 (3.9+2.1−1.1) pb at the 95% confidence level for a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV, while the standard model value is 26 fb.

Beam-induced and cosmic-ray backgrounds observed in the ATLAS detector during the LHC 2012 proton-proton running period

This paper discusses various observations on beam-induced and cosmic-ray backgrounds in the ATLAS detector during the LHC 2012 proton-proton run. Building on published results based on 2011 data, the correlations between background and residual pressure of the beam vacuum are revisited. Ghost charge evolution over 2012 and its role for backgrounds are evaluated. New methods to monitor ghost charge with beam-gas rates are presented and observations of LHC abort gap population by ghost charge are discussed in detail.
