How are Games Interpreted? Hermeneutics for Game Studies

This paper presents a hermeneutic theory for game studies. It starts by giving an overview of hermeneutics, shows how in understanding games it is useful to divide hermeneutics into two aspects -- real-time hermeneutics and game hermeneutics -- and finishes by detailing complementary approaches to hermeneutics for games. The article builds upon earlier work in the hermeneutics of games and draws from philosophical hermeneutics. peerReviewed

Aiempi pelimusiikin tutkimus on keskittynyt erityisesti musiikin funktioihin peleissä ja pelimusiikin tekniseen kehitykseen. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää, millä tavoin Interplayn vuonna 1998 julkaisemaan Fallout 2-peliin on musiikin avulla luotu postapokalyptinen maailma. Ophthalmic drug delivery is still a challenge due to the protective barriers of the eye. A common strategy to promote drug absorption is the use of ocular permeation enhancers, while an innovative approach is the use of polymeric micelles. In the present work, the two mentioned approaches were coupled by conjugating ocular permeation enhancers (PEG2000, carnitine, creatine, taurine) to an inulin-based co-polymer (INU-EDA-RA) in order to obtain self-assembling biopolymers with permeation enhancer properties for the hydrophobic drug dexamethasone (DEX). Environmental exposure to pesticides during the early stages of development represents an important risk factor for the onset of neurodegenerative diseases in adult age. Neonatal exposure to Permethrin (PERM), a member of the family of synthetic pyrethroids, can induce a Parkinson-like disease and cause some alterations in striatum of rats, involving both genetic and epigenetic pathways. Through gene expression analysis and global DNA methylation assessment in both PERM-treated parents and their untreated offspring, we investigated on the prospective intergenerational effect of this pesticide. Abstract OBJECTIVE: First, to assess the appropriateness of requests for albumin using current guidelines; second, to evaluate physicians' compliance with this protocol. DESIGN: Descriptive, prospective study. SETTING: 'Paolo Giaccone' University Hospital in Palermo (Italy). PARTICIPANTS: The six departments with the highest orders for albumin. The paper proposes a critical reflection on Remo Cantoni’s philosophical thought, with particular regards to his anthropological point of view that addresses concepts such as “critical humanism” and “horizontal connection”. The strict relationship between anthropology and participation are his main topics on which he has made outstanding remarks in the second decade of XXth century in the Italian cultural panorama.
