Participation in Social Media: Studying Explicit and Implicit Forms of Participation in Communicative Social Networks

The diverse forms of participation in social media raise many methodological and ethical issues that should be acknowledged in research. In this paper, participation in social media is studied by utilising the framework of explicit and implicit participation. The focus is on the communicative and communal aspects of social media. The aim of the paper is to promote the reconsideration of what constitutes participation when online users create connections rather than content. The underlying argument is that research on social media and the development of methods should concentrate more on implicit forms of participation.
Equal access to the top? Measuring selection into finnish academia

In this article, we draw a parallel between equality of opportunity in educational transitions and equality of opportunity in academic careers. In both cases, many methodological problems can be ameliorated by the use of longitudinal rather than cross-sectional data. We illustrate this point by using Finnish full-population register data to follow the educational and academic careers of the 1964–1966 birth cohorts from birth to the present day. We show how the Finnish professoriate is highly selected both in terms of parental background and in terms of gender. Vuonna 2011 saksalainen yhteiskunta järkyttyi vuosia kestäneen murhasarjan tultua ilmi. Uusnatsistisen terroristiryhmä NSU:n (Nationalsozialistischer Untergrund) oletettu kolmas jäsen Beate Zschäpe antoi ensimmäisen lausuntonsa vasta vuonna 2015. Vuonna 2013 alkaneessa oikeudenkäynnissä on syksyllä 2017 siirrytty loppupuheenvuoroihin. Tämä tutkimus käsittelee Beate Zschäpen antamassa kirjallisessa 53-sivuisessa oikeudenkäyntilausunnossa esille tulevia identiteettejä sekä sitä, millaisin kielellisin keinoin niitä konstruoidaan. The growing number of projcts for floating structures or artificial islands in response to the problems of urhan congestion or environmental emergency requires a critical reflection on the prospectives and the risks implied in this new trend of urban water colonization. This paper intends to test the hypothesis thaht the value of a new and emerging issue of Architecrure can be recognized to this trend and, trhrough a comparison with a series of experiences, wants to bring to the attention of the debate a number of questions which, for exigency of synthesis, analyze in particular the morpholinguistic issues re1ated to the diffusion of this new architecture theme.
Evolución de la oferta exportable en Santander, Colombia 2000-2012: Un análisis a través del índice Herfindahl Hirschmann

Este documento tuvo como objetivo analizar la evolución de la oferta exportadora de Santander entre el año 2000 y 2012, revisando los patrones de concentración o diversificación. Para ello utilizó como metodología el cálculo del índice de Herfindahl-Hirschmann. Los hallazgos encontrados establecen que la oferta exportable se ha concentrado por lo que las políticas diseñadas para promover la diversificación de producto no han tenido los efectos esperados y es necesario el diseño de nuevos lineamientos para tal fin.

Eduard Pant zaliczany jest do grona wybitnych postaci jakie żyły na Górnym Śląsku. Jego postawa osadzona w chrześcijańskim etosie nie zawsze była zrozumiała tak dla jemu współczesnych, jak i przez długie lata po II wojnie światowej. E. Pant starał się pogodzić lojalność wobec własnej grupy narodowej z lojalnością wobec państwa, w którym mieszkał. Był posłem i wicemarszałkiem Sejmu Śląskiego oraz senatorem II Rzeczypospolitej. Po dojściu do władzy A. Hitlera jawnie manifestował swój sprzeciw wobec partii nazistowskiej i jej przywódcy. Podjął też współpracę z częścią polskich środowisk, starając się wcielić w życie to co dziś określamy polsko-niemieckim pojednaniem.
