Evidence for Pygmy and Giant Dipole Resonances inSn130andSn132

The dipole strength distribution above the one-neutron separation energy was measured in the unstable $^{130}\mathrm{Sn}$ and the double-magic $^{132}\mathrm{Sn}$ isotopes. The results were deduced from Coulomb dissociation of secondary Sn beams with energies around $500\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{MeV}/\mathrm{\text{nucleon}}$, produced by in-flight fission of a primary $^{238}\mathrm{U}$ beam. In addition to the giant dipole resonance, a resonancelike structure (``pygmy resonance'') is observed at a lower excitation energy around 10 MeV exhausting a few percent of the isovector $E1$ energy-weighted sum rule. Energy and radiative properties of the low-lying NaRb states

D 1 P ‐B 1 P transition dipole moments, as well as nonadiabatic L-uncoupling matrix elements between the examined 1 P and four lowest 1 S 1 states for both 23 Na 85 Rb and 23 Na 87 Rb isotopomers. The relevant MPPT ab initio matrix elements and energy curves were converted by means of the approximate sum rule to radiative lifetimes and L-doubling constants ( q factors! for the particular rovibronic levels of the B 1 P and D 1 P states. The theoretical lifetimes agree well with their experimental counterparts for both B 1 P and D 1 P states. Colle-Salvetti-type local density functional for the exchange-correlation energy in two dimensions

We derive an approximate local density functional for the exchange-correlation energy to be used in density-functional calculations of two-dimensional systems. In the derivation we employ the Colle-Salvetti wave function within the scheme of Salvetti and Montagnani [Phys. Rev. A 63, 052109 (2001)] to satisfy the sum rule for the exchange-correlation hole. We apply the functional for the two-dimensional homogeneous electron gas as well as to a set of quantum dots and find a very good agreement with exact reference data.
Coulomb excitation of exotic nuclei at the R3B-LAND setup

Exotic Ni isotopes have been measured at the R3B-LAND setup at GSI in Darmstadt, using Coulomb excitation in inverse kinematics at beam energies around 500 MeV/u. As the experimental setup allows kinematically complete measurements, the excitation energy was reconstructed using the invariant mass method. The GDR and additional low-lying strength have been observed in 68Ni, the latter exhausting 4.1(1.9)% of the E1 energy-weighted sum rule. Also, the branching ratio for the non-statistical decay of the excited 68Ni nuclei was measured and amounts to 24(4)%.
Study of theZb(10610) andZb(10650) states through $B\bar{B}^*$ and $B^*\bar{B}^*$ interactions using local hidden gauge approach

We have studied the $B\bar{B}^*$ and $B^*\bar{B}^*$ interactions for isospin I = 1 using the Local Hidden gauge approach. Since both interactions via one light meson exchange are not allowed by Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka (OZI) rule, we investigated the contributions for those interactions coming from two pions, interacting and noninteracting among themselves, and also due to the heavy vector meson exchange, in which the OZI rule no longer holds. From the amplitudes calculated by these mechanism, we determine an effective potential which is used as a kernel of the Bethe-Salpeter equation. Ab Initio Computation of the Longitudinal Response Function in Ca40

We present a consistent ab initio computation of the longitudinal response function ${R}_{L}$ in $^{40}\mathrm{Ca}$ using the coupled-cluster and Lorentz integral transform methods starting from chiral nucleon-nucleon and three-nucleon interactions. We validate our approach by comparing our results for ${R}_{L}$ in $^{4}\mathrm{He}$ and the Coulomb sum rule in $^{40}\mathrm{Ca}$ against experimental data and other calculations. For ${R}_{L}$ in $^{40}\mathrm{Ca}$ we obtain a very good agreement with experiment in the quasielastic peak up to intermediate momentum transfers, and we find that final state interactions are essential for an accurate description of the data. Cellular automaton for chimera states

A minimalistic model for chimera states is presented. The model is a cellular automaton (CA) which depends on only one adjustable parameter, the range of the nonlocal coupling, and is built from elementary cellular automata and the majority (voting) rule. This suggests the universality of chimera-like behavior from a new point of view: Already simple CA rules based on the majority rule exhibit this behavior. After a short transient, we find chimera states for arbitrary initial conditions, the system spontaneously splitting into stable domains separated by static boundaries, ones synchronously oscillating and the others incoherent.
