Negatively Curved Nanographene with Heptagonal and [5]Helicene Units

2020

Negatively curved nanographene (NG) 4, having two heptagons and a [5]helicene, was unexpectedly obtained by aryl rearrangement and stepwise cyclodehydrogenations. X-ray crystallography confirmed the saddle-shaped structures of intermediate 3 and NG 4. The favorability of rearrangement over helicene formation following radical cation or arenium cation mechanisms is supported by theoretical calculations. NG 4 demonstrates a reversible mechanochromic color change and solid-state emission, presumably benefiting from its loose crystal packing. Radiation therapy technique and schedules could be adapted to patient's age because of a natural history of prostate cancer perceived as different, taking into account the comorbidities of patients but also a particular tolerance of elderly subjects. Assessment of the toxicity of cholesterol oxides on retinal pigment epithelial cultured cells

International audience; Purpose: Among the retinal lipid deposits found in AMD (age related macular degeneration), esterified and unesterified cholesterol have been identified. Cholesterol that accumulates in Bruch's membrane could be oxidized and lead to cholesterol oxides known as oxysterols. An experimental and theoretical study of a heptacoordinated tungsten(VI) complex of a noninnocent phenylenediamine bis(phenolate) ligand

[W(N2O2)(HN2O2)] (H4N2O2 = N,N′-bis(3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxyphenyl)-1,2-phenylenediamine) with a noninnocent ligand was formed by reaction of the alkoxide precursor [W(eg)3] (eg = the 1,2-ethanediolate dianion) with two equivalents of ligand. The phenol groups on one of the ligands are completely deprotonated and the ligand coordinates in a tetradentate fashion, whereas the other ligand is tridentate with one phenol having an intact OH group. The young hard active Sun: soft X-ray irradiation of tryptophan in water solutions

AbstractThe X-ray emission of the young Sun was much harder and intense than today and might have played a significant role in the evolution of complex organics in protoplanetary environments. We investigate the effects of soft X-rays on tryptophan molecules in aqueous solutions at room temperature. As results of the irradiation experiments we detect several light species indicative of fragmentation, together with large molecular structures such as tryptophan dipeptide and tripeptide. Complexification is more evident in H2O solution than in D2O, probably due to isotopic effects. Antioxidant Activity and Release Kinetics of Caffeic and p-Coumaric Acids from Hydrocolloid-Based Active Films for Healthy Packaged Food

International audience; Sustainable hydrocolloid-based films containing natural antioxidants, caffeic and p-coumaric acids at different concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, 5%, and 10% w/w of polymers, were designed for packing fatty foods. Tunisian tomato by-products, as a potential source of natural bioactive compounds.

Consumption of tomato and tomato products is positively related to the reduction in cardiovascular disease and several types of cancer, thanks to the presence of natural compounds, such as antioxidants. Peels and seeds fractions of tomato, collected after industrial processing in Tunisian industries, were analysed for nutritional and antioxidants composition in perspective of its utilisation. Proximate composition, fatty acids profile, carotenoids, such as lycopene and beta-carotene, polyphenols contents, demonstrated the good potential of these residual products as a source of natural compounds, useful for food and nutraceuticals applications.
