Läßt sich das sonomorphologische Lymphknotenstaging bei Kopf-Hals-Karzinomen automatisieren?

2000

OBJECTIVES B-scan ultrasound imaging is an obligatory examination of great clinical relevance in patients with head and neck cancer. The procedure, however, is dependent on an experienced examiner and thus requires higher personal resources than other examination techniques. In addition, its subjective character leads to possible deficits in reliability and objectivity. Established sonomorphologic criteria (echo-contour, echo-density, echo-structure, boundary) should therefore be matched to the findings of computer aided sonomorphometry. METHOD 200 sonographic images of the cervical region of patients with oral carcinoma were analysed semi- and fully automatically as well as interactively b…

Metastatic Versus Osteoporotic Vertebral Fractures on MRI: A Blinded, Multicenter, and Multispecialty Observer Agreement Evaluation.

2020

Background: MRI is assumed to be valid for distinguishing metastatic vertebral fractures (MVFs) from osteoporotic vertebral fractures (OVFs). This study assessed (1) concordance between the image-based diagnosis of MVF versus OVF and the reference (biopsy or follow-up of >6 months), (2) interobserver and intraobserver agreement on key imaging findings and the diagnosis of MVF versus OVF, and (3) whether disclosing a patient’s history of cancer leads to variations in diagnosis, concordance, or agreement. Patients and Methods: This retrospective cohort study included clinical data and imaging from 203 patients with confirmed MVF or OVF provided to 25 clinicians (neurosurgeons, radiologists…

EP626 Lymph vascular space invasion, an independent risk factor of sentinel node mapping failure in endometrial cancer, the sentifail study: a multic…

2019

Introduction/Background Sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping has become the gold standard for surgical staging of early stage endometrial cancer. Side-specific systematic lymphadenectomy is suggested if SLN mapping failed. The objective of this study is to identify clinical and pathological factors associated with failed mapping. Methodology We prospectively evaluated a consecutive series of early stage endometrial cancer patients submitted to SLN mapping with indocyanine green (ICG) near-infrared compatible surgical platforms in two oncological referral centers from January 2018 to January 2019. Indocyanine green was injected intracervical. Bilateral mapping and failed bilateral SLN mapping g…

676 NECESSITY OF EXTENDED LOWER PARATRACHEAL LYMPH NODE RESECTION DURING ESOPHAGECTOMY FOR CANCER

2021

Abstract Objective To evaluate the impact of lower paratracheal lymph node resection on oncological radicality and complication rate during esophagectomy for cancer. Backround The ideal extend of lymphadenectomy (LAD) in esophageal surgery is debated. Until today, there has been no proof for improved survival after standardized paratracheal lymph node resection performing oncological esophagectomy. Methods Lymph nodes from the lower paratracheal station are not standardly resected during 2-field Ivor-Lewis esophagectomy for esophageal cancer. Retrospectively, we identified 200 patients operated in our center for esophageal cancer from January 2017—December 2019. Histopathologically, 143 pat…

An Assessment of Radiologic Discrepancies in Patients with Paranasal Sinus Disease

1992

The importance of computerized tomographic (CT) imaging of the paranasal sinuses in patients with chronic or recurring sinusitis is well documented. Nevertheless, the accuracy and reliability of this examination is not absolute. In this study of 80 cases, a considerable percentage of CT scans (57.5%) failed to detail accurately the extent of pathology in the sinus cavities. In 39 cases the extent of disease was underestimated using CT, and in seven cases it was overestimated. Discrepancies in pathology were encountered most commonly in the posterior ethmoid sinus. In our opinion, the primary role of CT in the assessment of patients with paranasal sinus disease is to detail precisely the co…

Sonographische Darstellbarkeit und Größenbestimmung von Abdominalorganen bei gesunden Neugeborenen

1988

The determination of organ size is another important criterium in ultrasound examination. There are only few investigations in the neonatal group. Therefore in a prospective study the abdominal organs of 85 neonates were examined with a 7.5 MHz small part scanner. These organs were measured in standardized sections in order to establish normal values]

Extrakorporale Stoßwellenlithotripsie von Gallenblasensteinen: Wie viele Patienten sind geeignet?

2008

The proportion of patients with gallbladder stones suitable for extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) was analysed prospectively in 200 patients aged 17-76 years (62 males, 138 females) with symptomatic cholecystolithiasis. Criteria for inclusion were clinical symptoms, solitary stones (diameter 10-30 mm) or up to three stones with comparable total volume, contractile gallbladder, no calcification of stones, normal biliary tract anatomy. To check these criteria a step-by-step diagnostic procedure was instituted which consisted of history, ultrasonography with contractility test, abdominal X-ray film, computed tomography measurement of stone density, and endoscopic retrograde cholangio…
