Time-dependent quantum transport in nanosystems : a nonequilibrium Green's function approach

A time-dependent extension to the Landauer–Büttiker approach to study transient quantum transport in arbitrary junctions composed of leads and conducting devices is developed. The nonequilibrium Green’s function approach is employed for describing the charge and heat transport dynamics. The importance of the developed method is that it provides a closed formula for the time-dependent density matrix in both electronic and phononic systems. In the electronic case the nonequilibrium conditions are due to a switch-on of a bias voltage in the leads or a perturbation in the junction whereas in the phononic case the central region of interest is coupled to reservoirs of di erent temperatures. Parhaiten tunnettu suprajohtavuuden syntymekanismi perustuu fononien välittämään vetovoimaan elektronien välillä. Tässä tutkielmassa tutkin fononien välittämää suprajohtavuutta systeemeissä, jossa elektronivyöt ovat tasomaisia. Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction represents one of the most common procedures in orthopedic surgery. It usually involves the harvest of both gracilis and semitendinosus tendons from the ipsilateral knee. Different methods of hamstring graft preparation have been proposed in recent years, to create an adequate graft diameter reducing morbidity linked to gracilis tendon harvesting procedure. Mourning Missing Migrants: Ambiguous Loss and the Grief of Strangers

While the term missing refers to various instances and practices, we focus on the bodies of deceased migrants that remain unidentified, and on the inability of families to mourn someone when there is no body to grieve for. We deploy some ethnographic fragments of how Italian communities sometimes mourn those who are buried without a name and we describe the many problems of mourning someone whose fate is unknown through a discussion of the notion of ‘ambiguous loss’. Our contribution articulates some of the politics around deaths in migration by considering how missing migrants and their bodies are mourned in multiplicity. peerReviewed

Exploiting Google EarthTM to assess a landslide susceptibility model: a test in central Sicily. A landslide susceptibility multivariate model, based on the conditional analysis approach, has been derived in the Tumarrano river basin (about 78 km2), by intersecting a GIS grid layer, expressing some selected geo-environmental conditions (outcropping lithology, steepness, plan curvature and topographic wetness index), and a landslide vector archive, produced by a Google EarthTM aided remote survey. The simple method here presented, devoted to the evaluation of the environmental performances of transportation systems, is mainly referred to the pollutant emission factors released within the "COPERT III” approach. The method is here adopted for building up a synthetic indicator of the whole pollutant emissions from the transportation sector in a given urban area. This article regards urban planning as a form of storytelling and argues that there is significance in whose stories and which storylines are acknowledged to belong to the narrative fabric of a place and how the stories of future districts are communicated to the public through narratives during a planning project.
