Pricing and infrastructure fees in shaping cooperation in a model of high-speed rail and airline competition
2020
Abstract This paper studies the effects of cooperation in a hub-and-spoke network with high-speed rail and airline competition. The distinctive elements of our analysis are the consideration of: (i) per-passenger airport and rail infrastructure fees; (ii) mixed bundling pricing by partners, and (iii) an airline duopoly in the international market. We show that partners fix the cheapest bundle price of the combined trip, that non-allied operators respond by decreasing the prices per link, and that connecting traffic increases. Per-passenger fees significantly affect the price differences following cooperation. An empirical application confirms that it is privately profitable and that welfare…
Integrating xAPI in AR applications for Positive Behaviour Intervention and Support
2021
The spread of new technologies like Augmented Reality and recent technological developments, provide innovative techniques and tools that show increasing potential in education. In this paper we will showcase the work implemented within the Horizon 2020 European project ARETE (Augmented Reality Interactive Educational System). One of the pilots of this project aims to investigate for the first time the introduction of AR to support a behavioral lesson in schools where Positive Behaviour Intervention and Support (PBIS) methodology is adopted. In particular, we present the study conducted to track user interactions with augmented reality objects through the use of the Experience API standard.

Paths and Erratic Emotions of Natural and Cultural Landscapes: Mobility, Slow Fruition and Exploration of Economic Potentiality
2017
In recent years there is greater awareness of the need to match up the large amount of historical and environmental heritage of the Italian territory with the quality and concentration of cultural heritage and tourist services and put them into a network, through a new system of mobility. Urban and territorial policies should identify strategies and projects favoring the connections and use of sites, the perception of landscapes and the subjective emotions they arouse in the community. This interdisciplinary paper aims to rediscover the values and diversity of natural and cultural landscapes in Sicily by following slow routes immersed in valuable rural and urban areas. The proposed investig…
Mājaslapa "Latviešu tradicionālie ēdieni"
2015
Mājas lapa “Latviešu ēdieni” tās lietotājiem ļauj skatīt citu lietotāju pievienotās receptes un veidot savu sarakstu ar receptēm. Ja lietotājs vēlas receptes glabāt savām vajadzībām, tad recepti var veidot citiem neredzamu, neizmantojot publicēšanas iespēju. Mājas lapā paredzēta vieta arī jaunākajām ziņām ēdienu pasaulē. Sistēma ir izstrādāta Ruby programmēšanas valodā, izmantojot Ruby on Rails ietvaru. Sistēma strukturēta balstoties uz MVC (Model-View-Controller) principiem, izmantojot stingru sadalījumu pa datnēm. Kā datu relācijas parvaldības sistēma tiek izmantota Postgresql. Atslēgvārdi: Latviešu ēdieni, sistēma, MVC, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Postgresql.

2021
Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the associations of sleep quality, anxiety, and depression with cognitive performance, executive functions, and verbal fluency among women aged ≥ 65 years. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 241 women (72.52 ± 3.93 years). Cognitive performance (Mini-Mental State Examination) and impairment (Montreal Cognitive Assessment), verbal fluency (Isaacs test) and executive function (Trail Making Test), Sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep quality Index) and anxiety and depression (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale) were determined. Results: The linear regression analysis indicated that anxiety, depression and age, were related to…

Rapid serial naming: relations between different stimuli and neuropsychological factors.
2004
We report two studies on rapid serial naming (RSN). Study 1 addressed the relations among RSN tasks comprising different stimuli. Separate components for RSN of alphanumeric and non-alphanumeric stimuli, as well as for tasks in which the stimuli alternated between categories were identified. In Study 2, phonological skills, processing speed, motor dexterity, and verbal fluency were found to explain RSN performance. The studies indicate: (1) that RSN tasks vary in their properties according to the stimuli used and according to the way the tasks are arranged, and (2) that RSN tasks are multi-componented.
Validation of the Clinical Frailty Scale for the Prediction of Mortality in Patients With Liver Cirrhosis
2020
Introduction Frailty is a common but often underestimated complication in patients with liver cirrhosis. The Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) allows the assessment of frailty within a short period of time but has only been investigated in a Canadian cohort of outpatients. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the ability of the CFS to predict mortality in outpatients and nonelectively hospitalized German patients. Methods Two hundred outpatients and 99 nonelectively hospitalized patients with liver cirrhosis were prospectively enrolled. Outpatients/inpatients were followed for a median of 364/28 days regarding the primary outcome of death or liver transplantation. Eighty-seven patients o…
