Tractional Motion Machines extend GPAC-generable functions

In late 17th century there appeared the Tractional Motion instruments, mechanical devices which plot the curves solving differential equations by the management of the tangent. In early 20th century Vannevar Bush’s Differential Analyzer got the same aim: in this paper we’ll compare the Differential Analyzer mathematical model (the Shannon’s General Purpose Analog Computer, or GPAC) with the Tractional Motion Machine potentials. Even if we will not arrive in defining the class of the functions generated by Tractional Motion Machines, we’ll see how this class will strictly extend the GPAC-generable functions.

The subject of the study are the infinitive subordinate clauses (ICP). These infinitive structures, introduced by a perception verb like voir (‘see’), regarder (‘watch’), entendre (‘hear’), écouter (‘listen’) and sentir (‘smell’), are composed of two complements: a noun phrase and a verb infinitive (j’entends les oiseaux chanter ‘I hear birds sing’). We are interested in ICP in a French-Polish traductological perspective. Role of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells in training immunity against infection

During an infection, haematopoiesis is altered to increase the output of mature myeloid cells to fight off the pathogen. It has been demonstrated that the detection of pattern recognition receptor agonists by hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) induces their differentiation towards mature myeloid cells with modified phenotypes. In the present PhD thesis, we show that an in vitro transient exposure of HSPCs to live Candida albicans cells is sufficient to induce a trained phenotype of the macrophages they produce in a dectin-1- and TLR2-dependent manner.
