Abstract The molecular connectivity method has been applied to the study of pharmacological properties, among which are found the angor treatment dose, α-distribution half-life and intravenous LD50 in mouse, of a group of β-blocker agents, verifying its application in the prediction of theoretic values for said pharmacological properties. Histamine release events were shown in a prospective randomized controlled trial in patients undergoing elective general surgery with an extraordinarily high incidence: 73 per cent. Intramuscular tramadol versus ketorolac in patients with orthopedic and traumatologic postoperative pain: a comparative multicenter trial

This 3-day, multicenter, open-label, randomized, controlled trial was undertaken to assess the postoperative analgesic effect and therapeutic safety of intramuscular tramadol compared with intramuscular ketorolac in 48 patients undergoing orthopedic surgery and having postoperative pain assessed as 75 mm or more on a 100-mm visual analogue scale. Tramadol (100 mg/2 mL ampules) was administered as needed to a maximum of 400 mg/d, and ketorolac (30 mg/1 mL ampules) was given as needed up to 90 mg/d. Aceclofenac versus piroxicam in the management of osteoarthritis of the knee: A double-blind controlled study

Abstract The objective of this study was to compare the efficacy and tolerability of aceclofenac tablets 100 mg twice daily with piroxicam tablets 20 mg once daily in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee or gonarthritis. A randomized, double-blind, controlled study of 3 months' duration was conducted in patients with gonarthritis diagnosed according to the World Health Organization criteria. A total of 212 patients were recruited; 205 patients fully complied with the inclusion-exclusion criteria. Of these, 103 received aceclofenac and 102 received piroxicam. Critical and tricritical singularities of the three-dimensional random-bond Potts model for large $q$

We study the effect of varying strength, $\delta$, of bond randomness on the phase transition of the three-dimensional Potts model for large $q$. The cooperative behavior of the system is determined by large correlated domains in which the spins points into the same direction. These domains have a finite extent in the disordered phase. In the ordered phase there is a percolating cluster of correlated spins. For a sufficiently large disorder $\delta>\delta_t$ this percolating cluster coexists with a percolating cluster of non-correlated spins. Observation of random-field behavior in (CO)1−x(N2)xmixtures physisorbed on graphite

Heat-capacity studies have been carried out on submonolayers of (CO${)}_{1\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}\mathit{x}}$(${\mathrm{N}}_{2}$${)}_{\mathit{x}}$ mixtures physisorbed on graphite. We find that pure CO undergoes an end-to-end ordering transition at ${\mathit{T}}_{\mathit{c}}$=5.18 K, which is shown to belong to the two-dimensional Ising universality class. In diluting CO with ${\mathrm{N}}_{2}$ the heat-capacity peaks become progressively rounded until the phase transition is completely suppressed at a ${\mathrm{N}}_{2}$ concentration of only x=0.07. We consider the effects of impurities on topological insulators and superconductors. We start by identifying the general conditions under which the eigenenergies of an arbitrary Hamiltonian H belonging to one of the Altland-Zirnbauer symmetry classes undergo a robust zero energy crossing as a function of an external parameter which can be, for example, the impurity strength. We define a generalized root of \det H, and use it to predict or rule out robust zero-energy crossings in all symmetry classes.
