Hemopressin is the first peptide ligand to be described for the CB₁ cannabinoid receptor. Hemopressin acts as an inverse agonist in vivo and can cross the blood-brain barrier to both inhibit appetite and induce antinociception. Despite being highly effective, synthetic CB₁ inverse agonists are limited therapeutically due to unwanted, over dampening of central reward pathways. However, hemopressin appears to have its effect on appetite by affecting satiety rather than reward, suggesting an alternative mode of action which might avoid adverse side effects. Purpose: To investigate the possible association between ventilatory settings on the first day of invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) and mortality in patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with severe acute respiratory infection (SARI). Materials and methods: In this pre-planned sub-study of a prospective, multicentre observational study, 441 patients with SARI who received controlled IMV during the ICU stay were included in the analysis. Results: ICU and hospital mortality rates were 23.1 and 28.1%, respectively. Liquid−liquid equilibrium (LLE) data for the system 1-methyl propyl ethanoate + acetic acid + water were measured at temperatures of (283.15 and 323.15) K. The temperature influence on the LLE data is very small in the temperature range studied. The NRTL and UNIQUAC models were used to correlate the data for both ternary systems. The interaction parameters obtained from both models successfully correlated the equilibrium compositions.

Abstract Isobaric vapour–liquid equilibrium (VLE) measurements for the binary systems 4-methyl-2-pentanone + 1-butanol and 4-methyl-2-pentanone + 2-butanol are reported at 20 and 101.3 kPa. The system 4-methyl-2-pentanone + 1-butanol presents a minimum boiling point azeotrope at both pressures (20 and 101.3 kPa) and the system 4-methyl-2-pentanone + 2-butanol presents only a minimum boiling azeotrope at 20 kPa. In both systems, which deviate positively from ideal behaviour, the azeotropic composition is strongly dependent on pressure.
