Blood plasma levels of ochratoxin A, a toxic secondary metabolite of several fungal species belonging to the genera Aspergillus and Penicillium, were determined in 168 blood donors from the population of Valencia (Spain) using LC-FLD. In conjunction with blood collection, detailed information on diet was obtained by using a questionnaire that encompassed a wide range of products potentially contaminated with the toxin. The investigation revealed a detection frequency of 100%. Mean level was 1.09 microg OTA/l of plasma and concentrations ranged between 0.15 and 5.71 microg OTA/l of plasma. Here we present a novel computational signal processing approach for comparing two signals of equal length and sampling rate, suitable for application across widely varying areas within the geosciences. By performing a continuous wavelet transform (CWT) followed by Spearman?s rank correlation coefficient analysis, a graphical depiction of links between periodicities present in the two signals is generated via two or three dimensional images. Reorientational dynamics in simple supercooled liquids

Abstract The geometry of the reorientational dynamics in the van der Waals liquid, toluene, and the hydrogen bond network, glycerol, are compared. Both systems have contributions from small angle fluctuations. In glycerol the fraction of these small angle fluctuations is much larger than in toluene, due to the stronger anisotropic interactions in the former substance. The average reorientational angle in both systems is similar and on the order of 10 ∘ . In addition we analyze the stretching of the rotational correlation functions of rank one and two. Indirect evaluation of pit and fissure sealants: a 3D-based method validation

Background The aim of the present study was to compare indirect methods to assess the clinical performance of pit and fissure sealants and validate the use of 3D scanners.
