The concept of energy available to organismal growth (i.e. scope for growth; SFG) assumes a central role in studying the behaviour of successful invaders in aquatic habitats: the higher the energy allocated to growth and reproduction, the greater the likelihood of stability/persistence in space over time of aquatic populations. When successful invaders find useful life conditions (i.e., allowing to reach maximum SFG), they compete for space and resources with indigenous species, altering the functioning of entire ecosystems. Spindle cell lipoma of the floor of the mouth. A case report.

A sessile swelling in the floor of the mouth appeared three years ago in a 29-year old Caucasian female located laterally to the opening of the right duct of Wharton. The mass covered by normal looking mucosa exhibited slight growth since then. After excision, histological examination revealed the presence of a tumor formed by areas of mature adipose cells interspersed with extensions of tightly disposed fusiform fibroblasts immunoreactive for vimentin and CD-34. There were foci of concentric fibroblasts forming dense whorls. When large these conglomerates exhibited chondrocytes in the center. Mast-cells were not rare throughout the fibroblastic areas. Biological invasions pose a great threat to natural communities. Brachidontes pharaonis is an Eritrean mussel that has accessed in the Mediterranean sea shortly after the opening of the Suez Canal. At the beginning it had a restrained distribution with small local populations along the Israeli intertidal coast. More than a hundred years later it spread westward as far as NW Sicily, colonizing some hyperaline and natural habitats. Intraoperative ultrasound (IOUS) is becoming progressively more common during brain tumor surgery. We present data from our case series of brain tumor surgery performed with the aid of IOUS in order to identify IOUS advantages and crucial aspects that may improve the management of neurosurgical procedures for brain tumors. From January 2021 to September 2021, 17 patients with different brain tumors underwent brain tumor surgery aided by the use of IOUS. Darbā apskatītas vairākas butstrapa metodes, kuras tiek izmantotas izlašu apsekojumos vidējās vērtības un dispersijas novērtēšanā. Autore padziļinātāk izpētījusi butstrapa metodes ar elementu atkārtojumiem: klasisko butstrapa metodi, "naivo" butstrapa metodi un Rao-Wu butstrapa metodi, kas piemērota gan vienkāršākiem, gan komplicētākiem izlašu dizainiem. Darba praktiskajā daļā, simulējot dažādu dizainu izlases, apskatīto butstrapa metožu novērtējumi tiek salīdzināti ar īstajām vērtībām un novērtējumiem, kas iegūti izmantojot klasiskās novērtēšanas formulas. Artikkelissa tutkitaan uraohjaajien kokemuksia heidän tarvitsemastaan osaamisesta ja kohtaamistaan haasteista työelämän murroksessa. Osaamisen ja haasteiden tutkimuksella voidaan tunnistaa uraohjauksen kriittisiä kysymyksiä sekä lisätä ohjauksen laatua ja tehokkuutta. Aineisto koostuu yhdeksästä avoimesta asiantuntijahaastattelusta, jotka analysoitiin luokittelevalla sisällönanalyysillä. Uraohjaajien kokemukset tarvitsemastaan osaamisesta jakautuivat kahteen pääluokkaan: 1) uraohjauksen tuntemus ja soveltaminen, 2) uraohjaajien resilienssi ja metakognitiiviset kyvyt.
