Sensitivity of electromagnetic spectra to equation of state and initial energy density in the Pb+Pb collisions at SPS
1998
We study Pb+Pb collisions at 158 A GeV/c using a hydrodynamical approach. We test different equations of state (EoSs) and different initial conditions and show that there are more than one initial state for each EoS which reproduce the observed hadronic spectra. We also find that different equations of state favour different freeze-out temperature. Simultaneously we calculate the thermal dilepton and photon spectra for each EoS and initial state. We compare the dilepton mass spectrum to data measured by the CERES collaboration and find that the differences in spectra obtained using different EoSs and initial states are not resolvable within the current experimental resolution. However, at i…
Multigluon correlations in JIMWLK
2012
We discuss applications of the JIMWLK renormalization group equation to multigluon correlations in high energy collisions. This includes recent progress in computing the energy dependence of higher point Wilson line correlators from the JIMWLK renormalization group equation. We find that the large Nc approximation used so far in the phenomenological literature is not very accurate. On the other hand a Gaussian finite Nc approximation is surprisingly close to the full result. We also discuss correlations at large rapidity separations, relevant for the "ridge" correlations observed in experiments.
Measurement of the differential cross section of photon plus jet production inpp¯collisions ats=1.96 TeV
2013
We study the process of associated photon and jet production, p (p) over bar -> gamma + jet + X, using 8.7 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at a center-of-mass energy root s = 1.96 TeV. Photons are reconstructed with rapidity vertical bar y(gamma)vertical bar 20 GeV. The highest-p(T) jet is required to be in one of four rapidity regions up to vertical bar y(jet)vertical bar 0) and opposite signs (y(gamma)y(jet) <= 0) of photon and jet rapidities. We compare the measured triple-differential cross sections, d(3)sigma/dp(T)(gamma)dy(gamma)dy(jet), to next-to-leading order (NLO) perturbative QCD calculations using different sets of p…
Measurement ofD*±meson production in jets fromppcollisions ats=7 TeVwith the ATLAS detector
2012
This paper reports a measurement of D*(+/-) meson production in jets from proton- proton collisions at a center- of- mass energy of root s = 7 TeV at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The measurement is based on a data sample recorded with the ATLAS detector with an integrated luminosity of 0.30 pb(-1) for jets with transverse momentum between 25 and 70 GeV in the pseudorapidity range vertical bar eta vertical bar D-0 pi(+), D-0 -> K-pi(+), and its charge conjugate. The production rate is found to be N(D*(+/-))/N(jet) = 0.025 +/- 0.001(stat.) +/- 0.004(syst.) for D*(+/-) mesons that carry a fraction z of the jet momentum in the range 0.3< z< 1. Monte Carlo predictions fail to describe the dat…
Measurement of the ratio of differential cross sectionsσ(pp¯→Z+b jet)/σ(pp¯→Z+jet)inpp¯collisions ats=1.96 TeV
2013
We measure the ratio of cross sections, sigma(p (p) over bar -> Z + b jet)/sigma(p (p) over bar -> Z + jet), for associated production of a Z boson with at least one jet. The ratio is also measured as a function of the Z boson transverse momentum, jet transverse momentum, jet pseudorapidity, and the azimuthal angle between the Z boson with respect to the highest p(T) b tagged jet. These measurements use data collected by the D0 experiment in Run II of Fermilab's Tevatron p (p) over bar Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 9.7 fb(-1). The results are compared to predictions from next-to-leading order calculations and various Monte Car…
Measurement of the ratio of the pp¯→W+c-jet cross section to the inclusive pp¯→W+jets cross section
2008
We present a measurement of the fraction of inclusive W +jets events produced with net charm quantum number 11, denoted W + c-jet, in p collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV using approximately 1 fb(-1) of data collected by the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We identify the W +jets events via the leptonic W boson decays. Candidate W + c-jet events are selected by requiring a jet containing a muon in association with a reconstructed W boson and exploiting the charge correlation between this muon and W boson decay lepton to perform a nearly model-independent background subtraction. We measure the fraction of W + c-jet events in the inclusive W +jets sample for jet PT > 20 GeV and ps…
Measurement of charged jet production cross sections and nuclear modification in p–Pb collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV
2015
Charged jet production cross sections in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV measured with the ALICE detector at the LHC are presented. Using the anti-kT algorithm, jets have been reconstructed in the central rapidity region from charged particles with resolution parameters R = 0.2 and R = 0.4. The reconstructed jets have been corrected for detector effects and the underlying event background. To calculate the nuclear modification factor, RpPb, of charged jets in p–Pb collisions, a pp reference was constructed by scaling previously measured charged jet spectra at √s = 7 TeV. In the transverse momentum range 20 ≤ pT, ch jet ≤ 120 GeV/c, RpPb is found to be consistent with unity, indicating th…
Pseudorapidity dependence of the anisotropic flow of charged particles in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV
2016
We present measurements of the elliptic ($\mathrm{v}_2$), triangular ($\mathrm{v}_3$) and quadrangular ($\mathrm{v}_4$) anisotropic azimuthal flow over a wide range of pseudorapidities ($-3.5< \eta < 5$). The measurements are performed with Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\text{NN}}} = 2.76$ TeV using the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The flow harmonics are obtained using two- and four-particle correlations from nine different centrality intervals covering central to peripheral collisions. We find that the shape of $\mathrm{v}_n(\eta)$ is largely independent of centrality for the flow harmonics $n=2-4$, however the higher harmonics fall off more steeply with increasing $|…
J/ production as a function of charged-particle pseudorapidity density in p–Pb collisions at
2017
We report measurements of the inclusive J/ψ yield and average transverse momentum as a function of charged-particle pseudorapidity density dNch/dη in p–Pb collisions at sNN=5.02TeV with ALICE at the LHC. The observables are normalised to their corresponding averages in non-single diffractive events. An increase of the normalised J/ψ yield with normalised dNch/dη, measured at mid-rapidity, is observed at mid-rapidity and backward rapidity. At forward rapidity, a saturation of the relative yield is observed for high charged-particle multiplicities. The normalised average transverse momentum at forward and backward rapidities increases with multiplicity at low multiplicities and saturates beyo…
HΛ3 and H‾Λ¯3 production in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV
2019
Abstract The production of the hypertriton nuclei H Λ 3 and H ‾ Λ ¯ 3 has been measured for the first time in Pb–Pb collisions at s NN = 2.76 TeV with the ALICE experiment at LHC. The p T -integrated H Λ 3 yield in one unity of rapidity, d N / d y × B . R . ( H Λ 3 → He 3 , π − ) = ( 3.86 ± 0.77 ( stat. ) ± 0.68 ( syst. ) ) × 10 − 5 in the 0–10% most central collisions, is consistent with the predictions from a statistical thermal model using the same temperature as for the light hadrons. The coalescence parameter B 3 shows a dependence on the transverse momentum, similar to the B 2 of deuterons and the B 3 of 3He nuclei. The ratio of yields S 3 = H Λ 3 / ( He 3 × Λ / p ) was measured to b…
