Measurement of the isolated photon cross section in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV
2006
The cross section for the inclusive production of isolated photons has been measured in p anti-p collisions at sqrt{s}=1.96 TeV with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The photons span transverse momenta 23 to 300 GeV and have pseudorapidity |eta|<0.9. The cross section is compared with the results from two next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations. The theoretical predictions agree with the measurement within uncertainties.
Measurement of the inclusive isolated prompt photon cross section inppcollisions ats=7 TeVwith the ATLAS detector
2011
A measurement of the cross section for the inclusive production of isolated prompt photons in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy root s = 7 TeV is presented. The measurement covers the pseudorapidity ranges vertical bar eta(gamma)vertical bar < 1: 37 and 1: 52 <= vertical bar eta(gamma)vertical bar < 1: 81 in the transverse energy range 15 <= E-T(gamma) < 100 GeV. The results are based on an integrated luminosity of 880 nb(-1), collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Photon candidates are identified by combining information from the calorimeters and from the inner tracker. Residual background in the selected sample is estimated from data based on the observed d…
Evaluation of the local hadronic calibration with combined beam-test data for the endcap and forward calorimeters of ATLAS in the pseudorapidity regi…
2012
Abstract The local hadronic calibration scheme developed for the reconstruction and calibration of jets and missing transverse energy in ATLAS has been evaluated using data obtained during combined beam tests of modules of the ATLAS liquid argon endcap and forward calorimeters. These tests covered the pseudorapidity range of 2.5 | η | 4.0 . The analysis has been performed using special sets of calibration weights and corrections obtained with the G eant 4 simulation of a detailed beam-test setup. The evaluation itself has been performed through the careful study of specific calorimeter performance parameters such as e.g. energy response and resolution, shower shapes, as well as different ph…
Multiplicity dependence of charged pion, kaon, and (anti)proton production at large transverse momentum in p–Pb collisions at sNN=5.02 TeV
2016
The production of charged pions, kaons and (anti)protons has been measured at mid-rapidity ($-0.5 10$ GeV/$c$), the particle ratios are consistent with those reported for pp and Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC energies. At intermediate $p_{\rm T}$ the (anti)proton $R_{\rm pPb}$ shows a Cronin-like enhancement, while pions and kaons show little or no nuclear modification. At high $p_{\rm T}$ the charged pion, kaon and (anti)proton $R_{\rm pPb}$ are consistent with unity within statistical and systematic uncertainties.
Measurement of the electron charge asymmetry inpp¯→W+X→eν+Xdecays inpp¯collisions ats=1.96 TeV
2015
We present a measurement of the electron charge asymmetry in $p\bar{p}\rightarrow W+X \rightarrow e\nu +X$ events at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV, using data corresponding to 9.7~fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The asymmetry is measured as a function of the electron pseudorapidity and is presented in five kinematic bins based on the electron transverse energy and the missing transverse energy in the event. The measured asymmetry is compared with next-to-leading-order predictions in perturbative quantum chromodynamics and provides accurate information for the determination of parton distribution functions of the prot…
Production of transverse energy from minijets in next-to-leading order perturbative QCD
2000
We compute in next-to-leading order (NLO) perturbative QCD the transverse energy carried into the central rapidity unit of hadron or nuclear collisions by the partons freed in the few-GeV subcollisions. The formulation is based on a rapidity window and a measurement function of a new type. The behaviour of the NLO results as a function of the minimum transverse momentum and as a function of the scale choice is studied. The NLO results are found to be stable relative to the leading-order ones even in the few-GeV domain.
Pseudorapidity and transverse-momentum distributions of charged particles in proton–proton collisions at s=13 TeV
2016
The pseudorapidity (η) and transverse-momentum (pT) distributions of charged particles produced in proton-proton collisions are measured at the centre-of-mass energy s√ = 13 TeV. The pseudorapidity distribution in |η|< 1.8 is reported for inelastic events and for events with at least one charged particle in | η|< 1. The pseudorapidity density of charged particles produced in the pseudorapidity region |η|< 0.5 is 5.31 ± 0.18 and 6.46 ± 0.19 for the two event classes, respectively. The transverse-momentum distribution of charged particles is measured in the range 0.15 < pT < 20 GeV/c and |η|< 0.8 for events with at least one charged particle in |η|< 1. The correlation between transverse momen…
Production of 4He and 4He‾ in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76TeV at the LHC
2018
Results on the production of 4 He and He‾4 nuclei in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76TeV in the rapidity range |y|<1 , using the ALICE detector, are presented in this paper. The rapidity densities corresponding to 0–10% central events are found to be dN/dyHe4=(0.8±0.4(stat)±0.3(syst))×10−6 and dN/dyHe‾4=(1.1±0.4(stat)±0.2(syst))×10−6 , respectively. This is in agreement with the statistical thermal model expectation assuming the same chemical freeze-out temperature ( Tchem=156MeV ) as for light hadrons. The measured ratio of He‾4/4He is 1.4±0.8(stat)±0.5(syst) .
Measurement of the asymmetry in angular distributions of leptons produced in dileptontt¯final states inpp¯collisions ats=1.96 TeV
2013
We present measurements of asymmetries in angular distributions of leptons produced in t (t) over bar events in proton-antiproton collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We consider final states where the W-+/- bosons from top quark and antiquark decays both decay into l nu (l = e, mu) resulting in oppositely charged dilepton final states with accompanying jets. Using 9.7 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the D0 detector, we find the asymmetries in lepton pseudorapidity compatible with predictions based on the standard model.
Measurement of the forward-backward asymmetry inΛb0andΛ¯b0baryon production inpp¯collisions ats=1.96TeV
2015
We measure the forward-backward asymmetry in the production of Lambda(0)(b) and (Lambda) over bar (0)(b) baryons as a function of rapidity in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV using 10.4 fb(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The asymmetry is determined by the preference of Lambda(0)(b) or (Lambda) over bar (0)(b) particles to be produced in the direction of the beam protons or antiprotons, respectively. The measured asymmetry integrated over rapidity y in the range 0.1 < vertical bar y vertical bar < 2.0 is A = 0.04 +/- 0.07(stat) +/- 0.02(syst).
