Forward hadron production in pA collisions beyond leading order
2017
In this talk, we report our recent progress on pinning down the cause of negativity in the NLO single inclusive hadron production in pA collisions at forward rapidity.
Forward particle correlations in the color glass condensate
2012
Multiparticle correlations, such as forward dihadron correlations in pA collisions, are an important probe of the strong color fields that dominate the initial stages of a heavy ion collision. We describe recent progress in understanding two-particle correlations in the dilute-dense system, e.g. at forward rapidity in deuteron-gold collisions. This requires evaluating higher point Wilson line correlators from the JIMWLK equation, which we find well described by a Gaussian approximation. We then calculate the dihadron correlation, including both the "elastic" and "inelastic" contributions, and show that our result includes the double parton scattering contribution.
Measurement of prompt photon production in sNN=8.16 TeV p + Pb collisions with ATLAS
2019
The inclusive production rates of isolated, prompt photons in p+Pb collisions at sNN=8.16 TeV are studied with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider using a dataset with an integrated luminosity of 165 nb −1 recorded in 2016. The cross-section and nuclear modification factor RpPb are measured as a function of photon transverse energy from 20 GeV to 550 GeV and in three nucleon–nucleon centre-of-mass pseudorapidity regions, (−2.83,−2.02) , (−1.84,0.91) , and (1.09,1.90) . The cross-section and RpPb values are compared with the results of a next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculation, with and without nuclear parton distribution function modifications, and with expectations b…
Long range rapidity correlations as seen in the STAR experiment
2009
We analyze long range rapidity correlations observed in the STAR experiment at RHIC. Our goal is to extract properties of the two particle correlation matrix, accounting for the analysis method of the STAR experiment. We find a surprisingly large correlation strength for central collisions of gold nuclei at highest RHIC energies. We argue that such correlations cannot be the result of impact parameter fluctuations.
Measurement of the top quark mass in final states with two leptons
2009
We present measurements of the top quark mass in ttbar candidate events with two final state leptons using 1 inverse fb of data collected by the D0 experiment. Our data sample is selected by requiring two fully identified leptons or by relaxing one lepton requirement to an isolated track if at least one jet is tagged as a b jet. The top quark mass is extracted after reconstructing the event kinematics under the ttbar hypothesis using two methods. In the first method, we integrate over expected neutrino rapidity distributions, and in the second we calculate a weight for the possible top quark masses based on the observed particle momenta and the known parton distribution functions. We analyz…
Measurement of the top-quark mass inpp¯collisions using events with two leptons
2012
Made available in DSpace on 2022-04-29T05:11:39Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2012-09-26 We present a measurement of the top-quark mass (m t) in pp̄ collisions at √s=1.96TeV using tt̄ events with two leptons (ee, eμ, or μμ) and accompanying jets in 4.3fb -1 of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. We analyze the kinematically underconstrained dilepton events by integrating over their neutrino rapidity distributions. We reduce the dominant systematic uncertainties from the calibration of jet energy using a correction obtained from tt̄ events with a final state of a single lepton plus jets. We also correct jets in simulated events to replic…
Study of jets produced in association with aWboson inppcollisions ats=7 TeVwith the ATLAS detector
2012
We report a study of final states containing a W boson and hadronic jets, produced in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The data were collected with the ATLAS detector at the CERN LHC and comprise the full 2010 data sample of 36 pb^-1. Cross sections are determined using both the electron and muon decay modes of the W boson and are presented as a function of inclusive jet multiplicity, N_jet, for up to five jets. At each multiplicity, cross sections are presented as a function of jet transverse momentum, the scalar sum of the transverse momenta of the charged lepton, missing transverse momentum, and all jets, the invariant mass spectra of jets, and the rapidity d…
Υ(1S+2S+3S)production ind+Au andp+pcollisions atsNN=200GeV and cold-nuclear-matter effects
2013
The three gamma states, gamma (1S + 2S + 3S), are measured in d + Au and p + p collisions at root s(NN) = 200 GeV and rapidities 1.2 < vertical bar y vertical bar < 2.2 by the PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Cross sections for the inclusive gamma (1S + 2S + 3S) production are obtained. The inclusive yields per binary collision for d + Au collisions relative to those in p + p collisions (R-dAu) are found to be 0.62 +/- 0.26 (stat) +/- 0.13 (syst) in the gold-going direction and 0.91 +/- 0.33 (stat) +/- 0.16 (syst) in the deuteron-going direction. The measured results are compared to a nuclear-shadowing model, EPS09 [Eskola et al., J. High Energy Phys. 04 (2009) 065]…
Suppression of ϒ(1S) at forward rapidity in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV
2014
We report on the measurement of the inclusive Υ (1S) production in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV carried out at forward rapidity (2.5 < y < 4) and down to zero transverse momentum using its μ+μ− decay channel with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. A strong suppression of the inclusive Υ (1S) yield is observed with respect to pp collisions scaled by the number of independent nucleon– nucleon collisions. The nuclear modification factor, for events in the 0–90% centrality range, amounts to 0.30 ± 0.05(stat) ± 0.04(syst). The observed Υ (1S) suppression tends to increase with the centrality of the collision and seems more pronounced than in corresponding mid-rapidity measur…
Two-particle correlations in 400 GeV proton-nucleus interactions
1980
Two-particle inclusive correlations are studied by means of the two-particle rapidity correlation function. The data for the analysis come from an exposure of emulsion plates to a 400 GeV proton beam at FNAL. Predominant short-range correlations among shower particles are found, but this does not allow to exclude some long-range correlation behaviour, in agreement with the results obtained in lower-energy experiments.
