We describe the case of a 14-year-old girl hospitalised with fever associated with rash, myalgia, arthralgia and polyarticular involvement. Safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and exploratory efficacy of repeat avalglucosidase alfa dosing (5, 10, or 20 mg/kg qow) for 6 months were evaluated in NEO1 (NCT01898364) in late-onset Pompe disease patients either treatment-naive (Naive) or having received alglucosidase alfa for ≥9 months (Switch). In NEO-EXT (NCT02032524), an ongoing NEO1 extension, long-term safety and pharmacokinetics of repeat avalglucosidase alfa dosing will be monitored over 6 years. Even harmonic pulse train generation by cross-polarization-modulation seeded instability in optical fibers

International audience; We show that, by properly adjusting the relative state of polarization of the pump and of a weak modulation, with a frequency such that at least one of its even harmonics falls within the band of modulation instability, one obtains a fully modulated wave at the second or higher even harmonic of the initial modulation. An application of this principle to the generation of a 80-GHz optical pulse train with high extinction ratio from a 40-GHz weakly modulated pump is experimentally demonstrated using a nonzero dispersion shifted fiber in the telecom C band.

The electro-optical properties of most semiconductors and insulators of technological interest are dominated by the presence of electron-hole quasi-particles, called excitons. The manipulation of excitons in dielectrics has recently received great attention, with possible applications in different fields including optoelectronics and photonics. Here, we apply attosecond transient reflection spectroscopy in a sequential two-foci geometry and observe sub-femtosecond dynamics of a core-level exciton in bulk MgF2 single crystals. Abstract Starting from consideration that urban intersections are sites with promise for safety and operational improvements, the paper describes the steps taken to develop a crash predictive model for estimating the safety performance of urban unsignalized intersections located in Palermo, Italy. The focus is on unsignalized four-legged one-way intersections widespread in Italian downtowns. The sample considered in the study consist of 92 intersections in Palermo, Italy.
