r Process (n, γ) Rate Constraints from the γ Emission of Neutron Unbound States in β decay
2017
Total absorption gamma-ray spectroscopy is used to measure accurately the intensity of γγ emission from neutron-unbound states populated in the ββ-decay of delayed-neutron emitters. From the comparison of this intensity with the intensity of neutron emission a constraint on the (n, γγ) cross section for highly unstable neutron-rich nuclei can be deduced. A surprisingly large γγ branching was observed for a number of isotopes which might indicate the need to increase by a large factor the Hauser-Feshbach (n, γγ) cross-section estimates that impact on r process abundance calculations. peerReviewed
Are customer star ratings and sentiments aligned? A deep learning study of the customer service experience in tourism destinations
2023
AbstractThis study explores the consistency between star ratings and sentiments expressed in online reviews and how they relate to the different components of the customer experience. We combine deep learning applied to natural language processing, machine learning and artificial neural networks to identify how the positive and negative components of 20,954 online reviews posted on TripAdvisor about tourism attractions in Venice impact on their overall polarity and star ratings. Our findings showed that sentiment valence is aligned with star ratings. A cancel-out effect operates between the positive and negative sentiments linked to the service experience dimensions in mixed-neutral reviews.
2021
In Italy, the recent constitutional reforms have given regional administrations an increasing weight over government and tourism regulation. Therefore, observing the regions' Strategic Plans represents a valuable model for understanding the Italian tourist reality. For this reason, the article proposes a comparison of the tourist planning documents of the Italian regions, recalling indicators extracted from the paper of the UNWTO - World Tourism Organization - on the policies and objectives of spatial tourism planning. The article analyses the strategic plans through a synthesis indicator, which compares the main items considered in the regional strategies and their presence in the general …
The effects of heart rate variability and cardiac cycle time on learning in trace eye-blink conditioning
2017
Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin kuutta HRV-muuttujaa: sykevälin keskiarvo (MRR), …
Configurational theory in traditional manufacturing industries: a new model of high-performing small and medium-sized enterprises
2020
The goal of this study is to provide a model of high-performing small and medium-sized companies to address the new environmental challenges in traditional manufacturing industries. Adopting a configurational logic and following an inductive approach based on four high-performing firms, this paper provides new empirical evidence on how the steps followed by these firms are adjusted to the high-performance models prescribed by the literature. In doing so, it also offers a dynamic view of the interrelationships between the strategy and the new conditions of the environment. At a practitioner level, the paper illustrates which recipes are more appropriate to prescribe recommendations for a mor…

TRAINING STRATEGY IN ROMANIAN AND MULTINATIONAL COMPANIES
2011
Training is a planned process to change attitudes, knowledge and behaviors through experience gained through study in order to get optimal performance in a frame or range of business activities. In this system, is to develop individual skills to meet workforce needs, present and future organizations. Through efficient on-one training program is aimed at: Improving individual performance, team and organization in terms of quality, speed and overall productivity; Improved operational flexibility by extending the range of qualifications held by employees; Reduced recruitment costs through retraining; Attracting quality employees by offering them training and development opportunities, raising …
2013
Many students may read fluently but have difficulties constructing meaning from texts. Difficulties with reading comprehension have many implications at school. In particular, problems understanding texts interfere with studying and learning from text. Reading comprehension has improved in the last 30 years focusing on intervention programs that work with strategies in which metacog-nition plays a crucial role. However, recent years have seen relevant advances in the study of the relationship between working memory (WM), particularly executive processes, and reading comprehension. In this paper, we present how the last 20 years of our research has evolved regarding metacognitive interventio…
Coach-athlete perceived congruence between actual and desired emotions in karate competition and training
2017
Coaches can help athletes regulate emotions but would benefit from tools that help them accurately perceive athletes' emotions. In the present study, we investigated the use of video-recorded performances to compare 3 martial artists' ratings of desired and actual emotions with their coach's ratings. Results show how desired emotions progressively fluctuated throughout competition. Furthermore, desired and actual emotions differed between training and performance contexts. Finally, we report correlations between performance and perceived congruence in desired and actual emotions. Cumulatively, results offer support for the video-assisted recall of emotions as an intervention tool in develop…
