Nonlocal energy density functionals for low-energy nuclear structure

2014

We introduce a finite-range pseudopotential built as an expansion in derivatives up to next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^3$LO) and we calculate the corresponding nonlocal energy density functional (EDF). The coupling constants of the nonlocal EDF, for both finite nuclei and infinite nuclear matter, are expressed through the parameters of the pseudopotential. All central, spin-orbit, and tensor terms of the pseudopotential are derived both in the spherical-tensor and Cartesian representation. At next-to-leading order (NLO), we also derive relations between the nonlocal EDF expressed in the spherical-tensor and Cartesian formalism. Finally, a simplified version of the finite-range pse…

Evolution of the electron distribution function in intense laser-plasma interactions

1994

We report a numerical investigation of the time evolution of the electron distribution function (EDF) in a laser-embedded, fully ionized plasma. A distinctive feature of the calculations is removal of the frequently adopted assumption of small anisotropy of the EDF in velocity space. This requires solving a two-dimensional partial differential equation for the EDF. Within the adopted range of parameters, the EDF undergoes significant changes. An initially isotropic EDF transforms rapidly into an anisotropic one characterized by a longitudinal velocity scale larger than the perpendicular one. This longitudinal stretching persists for several cycles of the radiation field, implying the establ…

Nuclear Energy Density Optimization: UNEDF2

2014

The parameters of the UNEDF2 nuclear energy density functional (EDF) model were obtained in an optimization to experimental data consisting of nuclear binding energies, proton radii, odd-even mass staggering data, fission-isomer excitation energies, and single particle energies. In addition to parameter optimization, sensitivity analysis was done to obtain parameter uncertainties and correlations. The resulting UNEDF2 is an all-around EDF. However, the sensitivity analysis also demonstrated that the limits of current Skyrme-like EDFs have been reached and that novel approaches are called for.

Legri Science Operation Center. Architecture and Operations

2001

The LEGRI Science Operation Center (SOC) is the single contact point between the MINISAT-01 Centro de Operaciones Cientificas (COC) located at Villafranca del Castillo (Madrid) and the LEGRI Consortium. Its architecture, operational procedures and associated software has been developed at the Universities of Valencia and Birmingham on the scope to define a integrated Data Analysis System, able to perform the daily follow-up of the instrument health, raw data files decompression and archiving activities (on-line and historical). Pointing and telecommand files generation are also SOC responsibilities. The aim of this paper is to report the SOC activities during the two years of LEGRI operatio…

Neutrino beam flux prediction 2013

2013

This data release is superseded by the flux release in 2016. The files in the following archive file contain the neutrino beam flux predictions for the T2K ND280 (near) and Super-Kamiokande (far) detectors. The description of the flux predictions is published in Phys. Rev. D.87.012001. The provided flux predictions include no neutrino oscillations. This tar file contains the flux predictions as well as a README.pdf file with detailed information on the included files.

Hyplets - Multi Exception Level Kernel towards Linux RTOS

2018

This paper presents the concept of a Multi-Exception level operating system. We add a hypervisor awareness to the Linux kernel and execute code in hyp exception level. We do that through the use of Hyplets. Hyplets are an innovative way to code interrupt service routines under ARM. Hyplets provide high performance, security, running time predictability, an RPC mechanism and a possible solution for the priority inversion problem. Hyplets uses special features of ARM8va hypervisor memory architecture.

OpenTIMS, TimsPy, and TimsR: Open and Easy Access to timsTOF Raw Data

2021

The Bruker timsTOF Pro is an instrument that couples trapped ion mobility spectrometry (TIMS) to high-resolution time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometry (MS). For proteomics, lipidomics, and metabolomics applications, the instrument is typically interfaced with a liquid chromatography (LC) system. The resulting LC-TIMS-MS data sets are, in general, several gigabytes in size and are stored in the proprietary Bruker Tims data format (TDF). The raw data can be accessed using proprietary binaries in C, C++, and Python on Windows and Linux operating systems. Here we introduce a suite of computer programs for data accession, including OpenTIMS, TimsR, and TimsPy. OpenTIMS is a C++ library capable …

Quality System for Production Software as Tool for Monitoring and Improving Organization KPIs

2013

In this paper we propose a solution as support for quality systems for production software. The motivation behind this study was to reduce that cost in the production area caused by gaps in the quality of the production software. Our proposal: QSPS (Quality System for Production Software) is offering support in the "vulnerable points" of these quality systems which usually generate nonconformities and have proved to be difficult or impossible to control. QSPS is a method in seven steps or modules that integrates also software tools, templates, checklists, evaluating tools elaborated complying to products, process and system quality standards. If other analyzed methods like: Scrum, XP, Fuzzy…

Use of HFC fluids as suitable replacements in low-temperature refrigeration plants

2014

An experimental investigation of the performance of a low-temperature refrigerating unit working with R22 and a comparison of its performance when operating with replacement HFC fluids in accordance with the European Regulation CE-1005/2009 are presented in this paper. Plant working efficiency was tested with R22, as baseline, and then compared with four different HFC fluids: R413A, R417A, R422A and R422D. The refrigerating unit was a vapour-compression plant equipped with a reciprocating double-cylinder compressor able to keep the cold room at -20ºC. Lower values of the temperature at the end of compression and polytrophic exponent can be achieved with the HFC tested. Substituting the R22 …
