Predictive Model for Cut-Edge Corrosion of Galvanized Steels

A numerical model for the electrochemical behavior of cut-edge of galvanized steels is proposed. Some experimental data of current densities above cut-edge immersed in a 0.03M NaCl solution have been measured, using a scanning vibrating electrode technique, and compared with some simulated ones. A good fit has been obtained. The model geometry has been modified by decreasing the electrolyte thickness in order to tend towards an atmospheric corrosion case; such situation that is not easily accessible by electrochemical studies. Three regions can be distinguished according to the efficiency of the galvanic coupling to protect steel.

Abstract This chapter aims at briefly reviewing applications of sensory descriptive testing methods with children, as well as their limits in relation to the cognitive development of children. Children’s sensory perceptions and preferences may differ from those of adults, which may make working directly with children a must for successful product development, at least at some stages of product development. Objectives: Our project consists in the implementation and the evaluation of a care system for children in a child protection NGO in Cambodia. In view of the cultural differences and specificities of the field, taking into account only the symptoms does not seem to sufficiently account for the processes involved within the system. Based on the observation that there is a lack of tools that would allow us to apprehend these processes, our study focused on the creation of a scoring grid for psychological processes that could be used in the humanitarian field and could support clinical practice. In this study, we used the Many-facet Rasch measurement (MFRM) to explore the quality of ratings as well as the functioning of five analytic rating scales developed for automated assessment of L2 speech. This study is part of a multidisciplinary research project that develops automatic speech recognition (ASR), automated scoring and automated feedback for L2 Finnish and Swedish. The data include the analytic ratings (task completion, fluency, pronunciation, range, accuracy) gathered from human raters (n=14) who assessed L2 Finnish learners’ (n=64) speech samples using Moodle. Are customer star ratings and sentiments aligned? A deep learning study of the customer service experience in tourism destinations

AbstractThis study explores the consistency between star ratings and sentiments expressed in online reviews and how they relate to the different components of the customer experience. We combine deep learning applied to natural language processing, machine learning and artificial neural networks to identify how the positive and negative components of 20,954 online reviews posted on TripAdvisor about tourism attractions in Venice impact on their overall polarity and star ratings. Our findings showed that sentiment valence is aligned with star ratings. A cancel-out effect operates between the positive and negative sentiments linked to the service experience dimensions in mixed-neutral reviews.
