This study aimed to analyze the reliability and evaluate the causes of variability of bioimpedance parameters. Direct measures were analyzed because they are not affected by inappropriate prediction models. Resistance (R), reactance (Xc), and phase angle (PA) were determined at three fixed frequencies (5, 50, and 100 kHz) in 653 normal Germans (244 males and 409 females), aged 20-90 years, using a phase-sensitive whole-body tetrapolar bioimpedance analyzer (BIA 2000-M, Data Input, Germany). How perceived persuasive intent and reactance contribute to third-person perceptions: evidence from two experiments

In two experiments, this study presents a process model that explains third-person perceptions (TPP) as a function of perceived persuasive intent and reactance. Using two nonstudent samples, findings were internally replicated for two topics. The study shows that media messages evoking perceptions of persuasive intent also activate reactance, which in turn predicts TPP topic-independently. Remarkably, half of the total stimulus effect on TPP could be explained through reactance, which offers new implications for existing theoretical explanations of strong TPP after undesirable messages but weak effects after, for example, prosocial messages.

A Comparison of Special Bonding Techniques for Transmission and Distribution Cables

In this paper, a review of the existing special bonding techniques for medium voltage (MV) and high-voltage (HV) cables is presented. Special bonding techniques have the purpose of reducing sheath currents, thereby limiting copper losses and the reduction of the ampacity of cables. The authors present a literature review to identify various bonding techniques and how these have evolved over the years thanks to new technologies. Simulations of the most used techniques have been performed in Matlab/Simulink, to compare their strengths and drawbacks.
Magnetic Field and Short-Circuit Reactance Calculation of the 3-Phase Transformer with Symmetrical Amorphous Core

Magnetically symmetric, 3- phase transformer has been analysed. For the two variants of the windings, the calculation results have been compared with the measured ones. Magnetic flux density components were calculated in and out of the core. The flux distribution and short-circuit reactance have been verified experimentally and a good agreement has been obtained.
Effects of Equivalence Framing on the Perceived Truth of Political Messages and the Trustworthiness of Politicians

Recent studies in psychology have shown that the framing of a message affects judgments about its truth, as negatively framed statements are perceived as more trustworthy than formally equivalent, positively framed statements. The current work examines this effect in the contexts of political communication and public opinion. The results of three experiments show that equivalence framing affects both the perceived truth of political messages and the trustworthiness of its source, and that one cause of this effect is that recipients have learned to associate negativity with news and positivity with persuasive communication through media exposure. Solid rotor induction machines for use in electrically-assisted turbochargers

The stator leakage reactance has a major influence on the performance of a solid rotor induction machine. It is larger and it is more difficult to define and calculate than in a cage-rotor machine. When the higher leakage reactance is taken into account, the equivalent circuit model gives predictions of sufficient precision for design purposes. The airgap, normally chosen to be quite small, is preferably quite large by general standards. The torque varies as (V/f) 3 which makes it difficult to provide a wide range of constant power operation in a variable speed application. Slitting the rotor helps to improve the characteristic for variable-speed duties.
